So I am a newbie...just want to introduce myself.

I live in Opelika, but fish the Tallapoosa River and its tributaries alot.  I must admit that I am addicted to fly fishing...the Redeye Bass, Spots, and Striper are a ton of fun on the fly rod.  Also it's always fun to catch sunfish.

I don't assume to know everything about fly fishing in this area, but I have been at it for many years.  If you have any questions or need advice, feel free to message me and I may could help.

Thanks for letting me be apart of the forum.

i live at lake & love to fly fish--just cant afford 4 trips to Wyoming a year {green River is my favorite}; tried the Sipsey Fork below Smith Dam 3 weeks ago--very scenic & nice flowing water--but NO fish !!

I've done the Sipsey Fork as well.  If you go when they haven't stocked for a while it can be tough.  It is a neat spot but IMO Atlanta is just as close and better trout fishing.

The Tallapoosa and its tributaries are really good right now. Redeye bass are biting really well and will be until the first couple of frosts. Can also catch some really nice spots on the river with any big meaty streamer.

welcome to the forum! You might like a couple of the links I put in my latest blog post, they go over some tips for stripers on the fly. David Hare's Oct and November reports are at the end:

If you need boat service, let me know.  If you don't have a fishing boat, let me know.  (You can use mine, as long as you take me with you)  "EAT MORE FISH".

But DO NOT ask Cat to cook for you unless you're into Andrew Zimmerman.

Didn't know if you knew, but there's a group of Fly Fish fans that meet at the Brewery in Downtown Opelika. They call themselves the Bar Flies....here's a link to their facebook page.....https://www.facebook.com/Bar-Flies-at-Red-Clay-Brewery-1443722125943592/

Happy Fishing~
