Good deal deckhand . I just got in . Fished from about 3:30 til 4:30 at one of my favorite points . One spot on a worm and 3 more on spoon plus one small stripe on the spoon . The striper was released . The spot fillets are going in the oven very soon . I saw some brief surface action but did not get to it before it was over . It should be good tomorrow I hope .

Hey redbud and deckhand, new member here. Have read some of yalls posts in the past and seems like you have the spoon bite figured out! Ive been on the lake for a few years and never given it much of a chance, so I though it might be time to figure it out. If yall have any insight on how you like to target spots with  the spoon it would be much apprecited! Just would like to get better. thanks! tight lines

alahusker give a very good explanation on spoon fishing. My technique is a little different, I use some 12 oz hand poured spoons, look for the bait balls in the creeks, points etc and drop to desired debth. Jig up and down keeping in contact with spoon. At times I will power reel, if fish are near bottom, drop to bottom, reel up very fast and drop back to bottom keeping contact with spoon. Usually the hit on the drop but the spoon coming up quickly will get their attention. one additional trick, use a swivel to reduce line twist, also when you attach spoon to the snap, add a smaller treble hook which at times will increase your hook up rate.

I use a 1/2 oz flutter type spoon to target suspended fish in deep water. cast, let fall and twitch occasionally to mimic dying shad.
