I saw this notice from APCo today and thought some might need to know that permitting for shoreline construction may have become more complicated.  APCo and our wonderful Corps of Engineers seem to be at odds on a new delegation of authority to APCo by USACE and some approvals may have to go through CoE.  Good Luck!!

I sure hope they can work this one out to remain in APC control. Do you think it has any affect on permits already issued but construction not completed?

Oh Boy!

  1. If your project involves wetland impacts associated with a proposed seawall, riprap, boat ramp or other dredging work, you will need to employ the services of an environmental wetland consultant.

Yep, that would be bad.  I am in the business and any reputable wetland biologist will bill at over $100 per hour.  If you have to get involved in COE permitting it will cost thousands of dollars, if not tens of thousands.  Here's hoping APCO renews their MOU with the COE.

One of the primary reasons I came to Lake Martin was so I didn't have to put up with the governmantal idiots at the COE....this would be very bad for our lake.

According to the Outlook, most folks on Lake Martin won't be impacted by this.  If you have ove 500' of shoreline or wetlands are involved, there may be an issue.
