Went to put my ribs on and when I removed my cover........He had to climb up a 4x4 to get there. I won't be sticking my hand up under the grill to get the brush anymore.

That is a Gray Rat Snake (also called a Chicken Snake or Oak Snake by some people.) They get big, but can't hurt you, and they are all over the place, but usually high in trees so no one ever sees them. They eat rats and mice but also birds, chipmunks, and so on.
