I can tell the summer has begun, by the number of trash bags dumped on the side of the road. I don't know if they are left by homeowners too cheap to pay for trash pickup or renters, but in any event, it is disgusting.  Then someone who cares about the lake will stop and pick it up and dispose of it.  Trash service on the Alex City side of the lake is about $55 for three months from Advanced Disposal.  A lot of us would really appreciate it if you would shell out the money for trash pickup for yourself or your renters.  Just because no one sees you dump, doesn't make it okay.  If $55 for 3 months is too steep for you, perhaps you could get together and share the cost, so your neighbors don't have to pick up after you.  I don't think you would be too happy if someone came into your area and threw trashbags on your lawn or on your wooded property.  It doesn't help anyone if the roads around the lake, even the wooded properties, become a respository for your trash.  And be forewarned, if I happen to see you do it, I will take your tag number and report you to the county; just as I have done for landscapers who dump on the edge of the woods.

Sadly I doubt that the people responsible for dumping their trash on the side of the road probably don't participate here.  I am with you, if I see someone doing that I too will get their tag and report them.  Even better, I have a dash camera and will hopefully record them doing it so there is evidence.  Assuming its a homeowner on the lake (which is a big assumption) it is amazing to me that they can afford a lake house but not trash service.  I pay year round even though we are there on a limited basis for at least half the year.  We even have a separate can for recyclables and take them home for recycling.  It's easy and not a big deal.
