Hey guys!

Didn't take but 13 minutes yesterday to video a wake boat steam rolling my dock. As you can see, my pontoon boat takes an immense beating. It's also clear that I have my docks pretty darn secure, you can tell in the video that it's not the floating dock flailing around causing issues.

Luckily, this guy came by 3 more times. I have an excellent photo of his registraiton number. I plan to send it to marine police but also have my lawyer begin researching what level of proof is needed to take legal action. This goes beyond me being aggravated over a big wake. In the past week I have had my 5 year old thrown off dock, my hobie cat demasted, 1" mooring lines snapped on boat, loss of trimming to boat... all while I've been sitting there screaming to folks to just push out to middle of channel.

If you feel the same, I'm mulling over setting up a Facebook page called "Lake Martin Wake Shame" or something. I can only assume that those doing this are not property owners down here and therefore don't read this forum, no way someone who owns a dock could act so obsurdly. I'm a believer that shame goes a long way and it may motivate these offenders in a way that even a marine ticket couldn't manage. Give me your thoughts, if you would be willing to post as well I'm glad to start the campaign.

VIDEO IS NOT TRIMMED AT END... ONCE YOU SEE MY BOAT GETTING HAMMERED, VIDEO IS DONE.

I am getting a lot more than that just from the Tube Pullers in the big water entering Parker Creek.

Uhhh, I don't think you are going to get much sympathy from that evidence. Sorry

I detest rude boaters, mostly due to wake violations and generally being ignorant of anyone else but themselves. But, your location is a problem: it is very narrow and is also a major traffic route.

There have been boating deaths in the Narrows. Perhaps an approach to solve your situation is to appeal for "No Wake" markers at both ends and Marine Police surveillance for a while. Then, your video evidence might carry some weight??

No?? Well, just nuke'em....

That's nothing compared to what I get in the Little Kowaliga area. Water shoots up through the dock and floating dock from the waves. Everything is bounced violently. Not safe for grandchildren to swim because they would be slammed into the floating dock and dock.

Waves roll over my seawall with the top of my wall being 3 ft above full pool.

Not just wakeboarders. People with larger V-hull running though fast but below planeing speed. Thank goodness summer at the lake only lasts Memorial Day thru 4th of July. The wealthy idiots will be gone soon.

Now that I think about it??

Why would any competent adult, especially a PARENT, tow his child through such a narrow bottleneck on a board with boat traffic likely in both directions??

But, you know, I'm a stupid old f{{t...

On the rough days I will not even head toward your house with my grandkids in a tube.  If they are going to fall off I do not want it to be in the middle of the lake, where we have the most traffic.

You may be assuming too much on the Responsible Adult thing.

I'm also on Little Kowaliga, you need to come over and have cold beverage if you would like to witness open ocean waves. I feel your pain but come by our place Saturday afternoon with your camera ! It's unreal ! I've had a boat on the Gulf for years but the "chop" here is worse. If your pontoon was tied to our dock it would be damaged beyond repair sitting on top of our fixed dock.

Yeah, to be honest, I was expecting much worse.  I too am on Little Kowaliga Creek and waves come up through the bottom of my dock and boat house; waves break over my seawall.  Thankfully I have a boat lift and pontoon stays on it unless we are out riding.  Kids do like to ride the waves on the maui mat.

What crime is being committed to report to the ALEA marine police? Not arguing, I'm just not familiar with any law making illegal what I saw in that video.

Why was the video removed?

If you don't like the wake then you should move off of the lake. If your boats are secured properly or on a lift you wouldn't have any worries. It bothers me you people think you own the lake.

And your attitude justifies their beef.  Turn it around.  They were on the lake first so you go away.  You have no right to destroy their property.

And I am not one of them because if you tried to wakeboard in front of my cabin you would most likely end up in the trees.

No property damage occurs when boats are properly secured or on a lift. Rip rap instead of a sea wall helps too. Everyone should be able to enjoy the water not just pontoons. I fully expect to get bashed because of my post. However I'm tired of no one speaking up for the sport. This kind of attitude will get the sport banned from the lake and keep future generations from learning to ski and wakeboard. I see see more pontoons driving crazily than wakeboard boats. Typically the wakeboard boats are being very cautious because of skiers in the water.

I am not speaking for anyone else, but I don't want to see wakeboard boats or whatever you call them banned from the lake.  Lake Martin is a huge lake.  Just find someplace to enjoy your sport where it doesn't hurt others.
