when did the full pool number change from 490.0 to 491.0?  Did I dream it was 490.0 for decades?

No you didn't.   There was a one foot error back in the 20's. As per the new license moving forward full pool will be stated correctly as 491.

Full pool has always been 491 and we have never been at war with Eastasia.

TV news and other sources tell me the level is 489.+/-     My mind thinks oh "we are almost full" but the marks I made on the pier posts tell me we are more than a foot down.

Gonna be hard to take on the concept that 491 is full pool, because I will never know what the reporters are using.  Guess we will get over this with time.

Well, today it is not full pool, not even close. About 2 feet down per my markers on the dock posts.

I guess FERC nor anybody else on earth can control rainfall into the Tallapoosa River Basin. Even 2 feet down, the view is just plain great.....

Please an old man and his thinker......sometimes it doesn't grip the right numbers.....I live a and dock my boat off Tallassee Slough...for the past years I have taken my boat out when levels reach 487.0 because our slough goes down at that point where I have to pole my boat out  if much lower.  NOW...is the new 487.0 the same level as the prior level of many years???  Icontend that the new level of 488.0 is the old 487.0...confused yet ??

In 1923 they made a mistake by one foot msl. Therfore full pool is now accurately referred to correctly as 491msl. So naturally all other references change by one foot.  Conclusion is 488 is most definitely the old 487. That being said, the lake is NOT 3ft down yet.  The recently granted license requires the change in how levels are reported from  what I understand.  Does this help  clear things up for you?

Thanks for your help...I think I will go and see if I can see the bottom.  If so, may need to take out soon...
