I have used TurboTax software for many years without major problems. This year my credit card for auto renewal has expired, so I go on-line to update. Log-in is no longer valid. Which channels me into a menu-mystery of "if" "THEN" "PRESS" all designed to piss me off. And I am

Can anyone recommend a software product that is as good as TurboTax but is Customer Oriented to answer simple questions,,, like how to change a credit card number, or how to log in?? I just burned 45 minutes on the phone with voice response robots without success.

Crap....and I'm trying to send THEM money???

Where are you getting your update? Do you just auto renew (which by your post it looks like) or do you purchase elsewhere each year?

I do not auto renew as most big box locations as weel as Turbo Tax will contact you with discounted updates. Usually Best Buy or Sams is where I end up getting a new disk. After that the logon is not as issue as if you do not remember it will send you a link to reset.

Thanks, Talisi. I autorenew each year. I think I will just ignore their requests for new credit card and see what they do. If nothing else, I will go buy new copy locally.

I k own nothing about TurboTax but try this work around.  Just go to the website and start from scratch setting up another account. When you enter the same email address that is associated with the old account you will most likely get an error message telling you that email already exists and most likely give you options to update/edit the old account.  It will only take a few minutes to try and is free. Even if you buy a new disk if you try to register it to the same email you should get the same error message.  Since every email is unique it is what is used as the identifier of the amount.   Good luck.

An after thought. It seems to me an accounting operation would not send out auto notice as the card approached expiration. I've gotten these in the past. I would check my spam folder to make sure there wasn't a notice with a  link to correct/edit the card info.

Establish a new email just for Turbo Tax. Then buy as a new customer.

I've had to cancel my primary card a couple of times this year, due to fraudulent charges, and it is impossible to remember every place you have your old card listed. But I agree with Lifer.  Just go to the website and start a new account.  Often, you'll get the product cheaper, because a lot of times when you use auto renew, you get socked with the full price.  I found this to be the case as well with magazines.
