Any recent experiences? I played several months ago and was disappointed. I dropped my membership because of the conditions. THey never called and asked for renewal or anything? I hope they continue to improve.....would be great for area.

I played in December and it was fine except the traps are still shoddy.  I still compare it to the old days and it is much better.  Not sure it's worth $55 but if I lived in the area I would definitely be a member.  We would play 2 or 3 times per week if we had the time.

played monday & today--traps have been reworked--greens are great--dont know why your experience was not good--its not Pebble beach but guys who play there in daily dogfight are graet bunch + its better than risking your life driving on hwy 50 to Aub

Was not offered lifetime deal. Think I paid $500+ just as a show of support. I actually reached out to LM community to support. When I played the sandtraps were really bad and garbage was overflowing out the receptacles. I am not a golf snob but I can play RTJ for $50 bucks as I am full time member at a RTJ owned course.  Don't get me wrong....I support Stillwater's. But they have to put out a fairly reasonable experience. I will try again soon. I know it's a process. If they get it right.. I'll pay $1200.

That golf course is plenty good enough for me and every buddy who has played it with me.  I like the layout and the people in the Pro Shop and I think we are extremely lucky to have it.

Glad the hear the traps are improved.  Some were so bad that we would just pull the ball out and hit from behind.  I still think $55 is a bit steep but not ridiculous.  And they have put the money back into the course which has been great.

As for the layout, I think it is fine with a few areas that really bother me.  For example, the tree almost in the middle of the fairway on #9 either needs to be removed or they should get rid of the sand traps and replace with grass.  It's fine for golfers who can draw the ball as they can start it over the sand traps on the right.  However, for those of us that are not long hitters and either drive the ball straight or with a cut it is just wrong.  My strategy is to go over the tree but the need to go over the tree impacts distance.  I was actually on the tee box with the head greenskeeper one day and I offered to cut down the tree for him.  He got a good laugh, but I was serious.   Another gripe is #18.  Again, unless you are a long ball hitter you are looking at a long blind shot to the green on your second shot and if you are short everything feeds to the right and out of bounds.  I often find my third shot being either blind from the bottom of the hill or I am somewhere up the hill with an awkward stance.  Given the topography I am not sure how you can fix this hole.  All in all not a big deal and I've yet to play a course, including Grand National, where there are holes that challenge my usual game.  It is golf after all.

Martini Man, you are not suppose to hit the ball in the sand trap.

I like a challenge.....not.  It's just that I am very mediocre at golf.  Sigh......
