try Charter. I am not sure if they come to your particular area but I know that they cover most of the south part of the lake by highway 50.

I for one have been proactive with Charter for the last 2 1/2 years in an attempt to obtain intenet/television/telephone service in the exact are you are inquirig about.  So far there has been an 'official' survey of the area by Charter/Spectrum.  I have no further information from that end.

All we can do at this point is to continue to badger the offices of Spectrum, which I have been and will continue to be happy to do.  There is Charter/Spectrum within a stones throw of some of our houses, and yet we do not have their service.

Careful what you wish for, you may get it. In my experience Charter is horrible and our local office is horrendous. Their technology, or at least what they give in this area, is far behind the curve for TV. I've seen charter in other areas that was much more advanced than here.  I've been satellite for years but about this time last year I went back to charter. The TV portion lasted 24 hours. I kept the Internet for a while but when my phone went to a 10 gig plan I cut that too.

We live in the same area and would happily switch to Charter if we had the opportunity.

Do you live a Lake Martin fulltime? Personally, Lake Martin is my vacation home so I am mainly at the lake during the summer. That being said, I have had Dish for seven years and have been satisfied with their service. I do not have internet with them. I am in the Blue Creek area and your availability for their service would depend on whether they can" access" the satelite from your location. The main thing I like about Dish is that you can "pause" your service if you are away from the lake and take it off  "pause" when you return which normally is very cost effective. If you don't spent the winter at the lake, you can place your service on "vacation hold" during that time.

We are able to do that with Charter as well ... we pay roughly $40/month to maintain service for 6 months and roughly $140/month for cable/internet  for the other six months. Fortunately, our experience with Charter has been good up to this point.

Charter would be great - got Troy cable and 5 mg  internet and pay $125 month.  No high def channels.  I would go with Direct which I have in bham but I need Internet.  In eclectic area on the lake.   Troy cable is the pits!

We on Lake Martin who do not live at the Ridge, Windemere, Willow Point, Stillwaters have quite a handicap when it comes to internet service and it is ridiculous.

My family has been living here almost 10 years full time so don't give us any boo hooing about 'just a vacation home'.  If (IF!) those of us whot live on the lake, enjoy having friends and family here and would like to join the rest of the country with 'streaming' (which we don't even know what that is right now) then we will all have to take a few minutes out of our days and continue to show the corporate offices the following:

How many homes are in the area where you are (we have approximately 350)

How much money they can make

Because lets face it; its all about the money, right?!

Continuing to hope that Charter/Spectrum will see this thread, too.

Since you have direct in bham they will set your lake house up as just another box so you get full service for like 9 bucks a month. Then drop Troy cable to Internet only. Save money and get better service.

I am a new part-timer to Lake Martin.  I live on the north end of Lake Martin.  I have dish at home so I wired my lake house for dish and I just carry my box back and forth.  It doesn't cost me a penny more.  I was able to receive internet service through Charter/Spectrum.
