Just curious.  My toon in on a lift 4.3/V6 I/O....i turn master power off when not using.  I was out at pier today, and for about a 4-5 sec spurt......something with turn on and turn off. It did this multiple times.  Just a humming type noise.   Any thoughts?

The onlt thing I can think of is your bilge pump. It is wired to run even with the power off so if water collects and the float rises to that level it pumps out the water. That keeps boats from sinking that are moored in the water. My pump is in the stern at the lowest point. If you can hear it when standing behind the boat then it is probably the pump.

I have 2 batteries and a cutoff switch. It is wired to bypass the cutoff switch.

If it is your pump, it maybe defective if it is recycling without water raising the float.

Just my 2 cents....

I agree with goofy. Possibly the float switch is stuck and it is trying to pump water that isn't there. If your battery goes dead it is almost certainly the bilge pump because it should be the only thing that bypasses the battery switch.

Agree with all above.  You didn't say the boat is in a boat house, so, if not, it may just be dumping some of the 6" of rain we've had in the last week.  My guess is you have just enough water in bilge to trigger pump, pump tries to evacuate, and lowers level in bilge then shuts off.  Water in pump out tube runs back into bilge, which raises bilge level enough to trigger pump...again.  I've had it happen...vicious cycle.

That can  corrected with an adjustment to the float switch.
