Why is it that the people who are so sure that everyone within a two-mile radius wants to hear their tunes is also a fan of the lamest auto-tuned derivative bro-country cr@p out there?

Yes, I mean YOU, there on Dopson Point Rd. And you should know that I have access to a professional PA system, some John Phillips Sousa music, and an alarm clock that will allow me to crank it up no matter how early in the morning it might be... IF I need to do that to make a point.

I called the owners yesterday and politely asked that they turn it down.  They were very apologetic and did so immediately.  I doubt it will be a problem in the future.

Amaking what a polite conversation can accomplish as opposed public winning.

They turned it down, so yes, I do consider it winning. Unless you meant "whining," which is a completely different word that is spelled and pronounced differently. If that's the case, maybe you should master some basic grade school grammar and spelling before displaying that holier-than-thou attitude of yours.

For the record, I don't have their phone number, and don't know their name. Nor is there any real reason that I should; I am on a different road, and quite a good distance up the slough. Which was the point: our houses are not close to each other by any stretch of the definition, and yet people on my dock had to almost shout to be heard over the music that was coming from their dock. Were we neighbors, I could have easily had that conversation, and likely would have had contact info at the very least.

I took your post as more "Public Service Announcement" than "public whining." Inconsiderate and/or unaware music abusers are found all over the lake, and maybe those who are simply unaware will take your message to heart, even if it wasn't directed specifically at them.

I Know we'll the difference between winning and winning. Have you ever heard of autocorrect asshat. It will change words to what one uses the most and since Nov 8th I have typed winning an awful lot.

It has always been confusing to me.  Many people come to peaceful Lake Martin to get away from noise and bright lights.  They then put speakers on their docks and lights all over their property.  I just don't get it.  Hope your 'neighbors' keep it down now.  Good luck!

Ummmm, ever thought of disabling auto-correct?  Then there might not be two winnings? ( A win-win for you?)

Yes I have. But I couldn't spell so well prior to the invention of spell checkers and now don't even try so hard. My problem is more about poor typing than lack of Grammer skills. If it is to hard for anybody to understand they don't have to read my posts, but it will be their loss, not mine. I gave up caring what other people think long ago.

Jalcz, hope you get some peace, having bad neighbors is a real lake spoiler. By the way, don't consider you as "whining!"

Noise just really travels over the water - all noise:  those that feel it necessary to use their chainsaws, and lawnmovers very early on weekend mornings, people that feel the need to rev their car, boat, jetski motors and voices.  It is so effective, my dogs like to bark and listen to the sound come back to them, and then they think it is another dog (at which point they come into the house, because I have no desire to make my neighbors want to shoot the dogs).  Oh yes, and those very noisy heat pumps that you are pretending don't need to be replaced.  And when you are making all this noise in the middle of the week, because you think no one is here, think again.

I've also found that when music is on in the boat, it is sometimes hard to judge just how loud it is for everyone else.

Of course, some people don't care if they are bothering others.  They don't want to be asked to turn it down, will be offended and somehow it will be your fault.
