"folks like me don't care what he said before" strikes me as a really true statement from a dedicated Trump supporter.   It's consistent with another comment from a recent exchange I had with another devotee who told me that "character and personality don't matter anymore" when it comes to picking a POTUS.  

If some voters don't care about what their leader has said in the past, and if matters of character don't matter to them... then I wonder if we will ever find a rational way to talk about selecting a president in the future.
