Yesterday, I spotted three American white pelicans on land. I have seen numerous (20 or more) during the fall, but they where sitting in the water. These three were walking along the bank around Pace's Point. According to The Cornell Lab of Ornithology, these birds may only winter here. Have any other folks seen these pelicans on land and around here in summer?

There were probably 30-40 above river bridge on Friday.  I figure they were blown off course by the storm.

I took a video of about 40 of them swimming around in front of North Lake condos.

Wow!  Those are great pictures!!!  Where on the lake were these pictures taken?  These pictures represent similar sitings I've seen before - 30 or so in a flock and with them being in the water. I'm still perplexed about my recent siting of only 3 birds and them being on land.  Thanks for adding the National Geographic quality pictures!!!

Location is behind the island with no name on the maps, north of the channel, west of Mad Wind/Shady Bay and East of Bay Pine. We know the area as Mockingbird Point at the end of Mockingbird Road. LMRA bouy TR-44 is very close to the area. TR-44 is missing due to storms, BTW.

I hope that is clearer than mud.

I believe my neighbor has a Canon point and shoot, one with a longer than normal zoom.
