Subject:   Trump declares victory over logical thinking

From Meet the Press & Face the Nation interviews  7/9/17

"After President Donald Trump on Sunday said he discussed “forming an impenetrable Cyber Security unit” with Russian President Vladimir Putin, lawmakers of both political parties wasted little time trashing the proposal, given Russia’s cyberattacks against the U.S. during last year’s election.

When asked for his response on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) chuckled.

“It’s not the dumbest idea I’ve ever heard, but it’s pretty close,” he said of the cybersecurity proposal.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) similarly scoffed at the suggestion.

“I am sure that Vladimir Putin could be of enormous assistance in that effort ? since he’s doing the hacking,” he said on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said that Trump and Putin collaborating on cybersecurity would be like working with Syrian President Bashar Assad on reducing the use of chemical weapons."

Instead of condemnation of Russian interference in US & other national elections, Trump offers to develop a cooperative cybersecurity organization with Russia.......   Now THAT"S the funniest thing we've heard in a while.

Well, we could open up Iran's ability to develop nuclear weapons, or unfreeze billions of Iranian funds for those efforts, or fly in millions of unmarked bills to Iran under the cover of CNN dark sky, or give Russia 20% of our Uranium which suprisingly finds its way to where, where where.....as Alan Jackson sings "I don't know the difference in Iraq and Iran".  Or we could provide drug lords some Fast and Furious weapons so they can shoot our agents who interfere with illegal drugs, immigrants and sex trafficing.

Yep, some funny stuff been going on.

Hey, Copper.  In case you did not know, WE are the best hackers in the world.  It is our duty and business to be such.  If not we have some way behind intelligence folks working for us.

What does any of that have to do with the Russian interference in the election?

Would you rather change the subject than talk about this?  Trump is surely taking that approach, too.

I don't know if we are the best hackers in the world or not, but I'm pretty sure we won't be if we were to actually collaborate with the Russians to develop our cyber-defenses.

You?

AS I'VE POSTED BEFORE.....FURNISH PROOF THAT RUSSIA ACTUALLY SUCCESSFULLY INTERFERED IN THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.....OR SHUT UP.  FAKE NEWS FROM YOU IS SICKENING.

and John McCain was saying we MUST punish Russia for their actions, yet he doesn't propose what we should do.  Which is why he was not elected President.

There is no value to Russia in admitting they did the hacking.  Trump is not going to accuse them, beyond whatever was said at the meeting.  Have we forgotten that Russia still has our favorite little hacker?  The point is this - we need to move on, and we need to develop better cyber security, which I am sure is in the works, but they are not going to acknowledge it.  If we definitively know they did, then we definitively know how they did it.

I was far more interested in the ceasefire agreement with Russia about Syria- but of course, no one want to talk about that.  Because that sounds like progress.  And it's well known that the media outlets are determined not to report anything that is either good or progress to a situation.

I'm more interested in what is going to be done with North Korea.  People say sanctions, but I think we have aleady sanctioned them and I don't know how else we can sanction them, unless China does it.  We are currently doing a show of force with South Korea and Japan, near the DMZ.  Maybe that will give KJU something to think about, but I doubt it.  He seems to love having the world pay attention to him.

I believe we have no choice except to move forward, too.   I just think we need to understand what has just happened, the how and why .....so we can move forward wiser and better able to understand this new world we seem to find ourselves in now.   Understanding what the effects are, while avoiding additional damage to the nation would be a good idea for us.        I continue to think that deeper investigations of D Trump's financial history is crucial... but not everyone would agree with that.   Trump's "America First" nationalism is just too similar to Putin's own style of whipping up nationalistic fervor to support his policies, IMO.    And, it certainly looks like all this policy change has begun to alienate us from our historical allies in Europe....  So, no, we have to examine this.  Let Mueller do his job.

I'm pretty sure South Koreans are more than a bit worried about what an mis-spoken "America First"  tweet could do..... over just a period of minutes.     I certainly am.

I am happy for any cease-fire in Syria, but it is becoming clear that the decision makers in Syria will be Russian & Iranian, I think.  And, as before, Assad didn't sign on to the cease-fire this time either.

Copper, there are an awful lot of "I think" and "I believe" statements in your posts, as if they are fact.  The fact may be that you believe it to be true but others may not agree.  In my opinion your strident criticisms of Trump, to include insisting his financial records be opened and investigated ring hollow because I didn't see any strident insistence on your part that Obamas college transcripts be opened for inspection.  And don't start that mess about it doesn't matter because Obama isn't President because it is absolutely comparing apples to apples.

You aren't going to give an inch on your presupposition that Trump is all bad, and that is too bad.  Just like I told my uber liberal son that I though invading Iraq was a mistake, I will tell you Trump has squandered a lot of opportunities because of his insistence on engaging in petty feuds.  Are you, on the other hand, willing to admit that he has upset the status quo for the good of the country?  Are you willing to admit his pro business agenda has renewed enthusiasm in the marketplace?  Are you willing to admit he has placed the US in the place of being someone to be reckoned with as opposed to be treated like a doormat?  ANY of these?

Of course there is a lot of “I think” and “I believe” in my posts!   A public forum was about sharing your opinions, right?   I recognize disagreements, they are pretty obvious to spot on this forum.   I am certainly not calling anyone an idiot if they disagree with me.

No, I really don’t think Trump has upset the status quo for the good of the country, you’ll have to give me examples of what you mean.   Not at all.   He is rapidly bringing out the worst in us and playing up some dangerous themes to rally his base… like degrading a Free Press, or attacking the Judiciary, etc.     I am not in favor of “dismantling the administrative state” because nobody knows what Steve Bannon means by that.        I am amazed at the stock market’s rally, it was unexpected and (I think) based on some sort of irrational exuberance.    I don’t think it’s going to last, honeymoons don’t.   Do you think Trump’s frequently contradictory & confusing public statements (like his health care policy ideas) are inspiring confidence in him as a leader of the international business community?

No, I don’t think Trump has placed the US in a position of increased respect around the globe, and I never bought the idea that we were the world’s doormat anyway.    Just the opposite, we have been the world’s undisputed leader.   That leadership seems to be unraveling now.    For instance, under Trump’s leadership our allies are experiencing a good bit of uncertainty about what he might do. (understandable enough, WE aren’t sure what he might do either).   If uncertainty among allies is a good idea in a world full of trip-wires, you will have to explain it to me.   And I don’t have confidence in Trump’s ability to be a wise & steady handed military leader either… so it’s good he has a strong team of generals around him.  But his decision making ability should be making people worried.   In my opinion, of course.

Your defense of a "free" press is laughable. If CNN couldn't print "fake" news they would no longer be around. How many stories have they had to retract in recent weeks? They are doing more to to divide the country and give radicals insane ideas to react on than any other any other segment of our society. As to the unraveling of the world view of the United States, your favorite Obama took care of doing that during his deplorable eight years. Also, what you "think" and what you "believe" is becoming a little boring.

Buteye, you have a short memory. Did Rush, Hannity, or Coulter ever have anything positive to report about Obama during his 8 years as your President?

What do you think about Trumpster Jr???? Another liar in the family.

You are going to have to give me your definition of Fake News, because that term is being over-used to describe all negative reporting about Trump... and is a knee-jerk label that Trump uses to defend himself when he can think of nothing else.     No, the major media outlets are not chock full of people who make up things to print... far from it, there are a huge number of journalists out there honestly trying to report information about the issues of the day.   The Free Press is a really important feature of any Democracy, warts and all.

On the other hand, there was that report about the captive children held on Mars by a ring of Pedophiles looking to create an elixir of eternal youth (as reported by Alex Jones & his network), the statements that Obama wiretapped the Trump campaign (that one from Donald himself), the Bowling Green Massacre (Kellye Ann Conway), and we should never forget the kidnapped children held in the basement of Ping Pong Pizza and the bravery of the Trump supporter who showed up with his gun to free them.   I don't think the NY Times, Washington Post, CNN, NBC, CBS or any other mainstream media corporation pushed those stories on us.  And even if they had, just a little bit of critical thinking should have brought most people to conclude that these stories were BS.     If there is a fake news problem, it's really that people are willing to believe anything that agrees with their previously held opinions...   So Trump's philosophy is to advise the people to believe nothing except what he tells them and to disregard press reports that are less than flattering.

When reporting errors do occur, I expect reputable news organizations to issue retractions & corrections ASAP.   I have not heard anything like that from the Trump Administration when they are shown to have falsified & misrepresented important facts.   The only time I can recall a Trump retraction is when he was forced to reluctantly announce that his allegations about Obama not being born on US soil was not true after all.  No apology, just a quick retraction after many years of pushing that false narrative..

.... after which, none of his supporters complained that Trump had been pushing "fake news".

What a joke equating a college transcript to a tax return. Did Trump release his college transcript? You need to get serious.

Your post makes me look like a genius.

No but there were and still are questions that would have been answered by his transcripts and your attempt to claim that a request for information that may have put Obama in a poor light as someone who accepted aid that is not for citizens is laughable.

So you want any and all Trump documents that might prove something when you have no evidence of a crime, just your want to be able to paw through someones personal documents. And you want to point to the fact that he has not released them as proof of a crime.  Madow got one of his and all it proved was that he paid taxes at a higher rate then anyone else that year.  OMG!!!!!!!  PMSNBC even did a countdown - you must have missed that news cycle.

So Obama and executive privilage on HOlder emails in regards to fast and furious is evidence of crime.

Hillary not releasing all of her personal emails on the server that were co-mingled with work items is proof of a crime.

IRS magic hard drive failures - proof

Your post makes you look like an idiot.

Read the foriegn press and you would think they were talking about two different trips. It's easy to confirm on the net that most foriegn media outlets are talking about the unabashed success of President Tumps trip. The same was true for the past 8 years under Obama. The press in China, Russia, Austrailia and Brittan had a much lower opinion of our leader and chief, often refering to him as a buffoon though our fake news MSM told a completely different story. The problem with facts is they are easy to confirm.

It's hard to report something positive during Obama's eight years  in office. As you well know, I pleaded with you on several occasions to provide us with a list of Obama's noterworthy accomplishments during his eight years to no avail.

The main reason Obama never released his college transcripts is because he had something to "hide". If you recall, I commented several times about the fact that to my knowledge, employers of any major company "require" a copy of a potential employee's college transcript, yet Obama was not required to produce a copy of his transcript in his quest for President of the United States.
