The first tournament of the 2018 season will be on Lake Martin February 8-11.  I for one am looking forward to seeing how about 100 of the best fishermen in the world break things down.  I expect most of them to stick to deep water, but I hope to see at least one of them fish near our place so that perhaps I can learn something new that I can use later.  Hopefully, they won't be video game fishing, watching their electronics until they find individual fish in deep water, and then shake a drop shot in their faces until they hit.  My boat is not equipped for that

A former neighbor fishes the Elite curcuit. One of his sponsors is Lowrance....he uses 3 12 inch machines. 2 on the console one for bottom and the other for way points. Then he has another 12 inch on the bow.

I have a machine that I attached the transducer to a large(2 to 3in) suction cup. I then built a small wooden box with bricks inside and mounted the machine bracket to the top of the box. I also purchased an extension cord so I can use it from bow to stern. I put alligator clips on the end of the power cord and use a portable car starter for power. I use it when I travel and rent a small boat.

The pros will be using even bigger depthfinders next year.  I saw several videos where pros were saying they could get away with just two units next year.  Many of them will be squatting on the front deck looking very closely at the front depthfinder for individual fish in very deep water.
