Greetings!  We are looking for a waterproof metal detector to borrow. A gentleman lost his wedding band in the water at our beach. It is a very special ring passed down from a relative. If you have one we could borrow for a few minutes, we would love to give you a free tshirt.

Mine's not waterproof. But if he know about where he lost it, I'll be glad to come find it when the water comes down.

I don't remember who, but someone in the local area will dive and look for lost objects in and around your pier.  You might ask about a diver.
