I think you may be right about McCain.  Kind of reminds me of a needy kid who considers any attention to be good, even if for bad behavior.  Why else would he vote to debate health care then be the deal-breaking vote against the resultant bill?

Understand that Pence was at his elbow and Trump was on the phone pressuring him to vote for it.  Maybe the tumor is affecting his brain.  But I do think he loves the attention.  I've known other people in Washington that were the same.  Just can't give it up, because they are not sure who they are if they are not "that".

well, perhaps in his illness, he felt like he was voting for what he believes - but I suspect that since it is John McCain, he did it only to spit in the eye of Trump and those Republicans who may have wronged him in the past. 

But tell me, if you had been told that you might only have 14-15 months left in your life, would spend your time in Washington or wouild you be home with your family and doing things that bring you peace?  I personally feel that John McCain is a bitter man, who wanted to be President, thought he should be President and then when he couldn't win, just became antagonistic and spiteful.  And I think that without the soundbite and media attention, he's just another old man with an opinion.
