Just relocated from Alaska. We wanted to pitch a tent and camp for one night with our boat to do some early morning fishing at Lake Martin. Wind Creek requires a 3 night stay on holidays, and we do not have that time and I don't need to pay for hook-ups I will not use either.

Where around Lake Martin can I pitch a tent near a boat launch for one day/night?

Thanks in advance!

Wind Creek  has primitive camping that is off the beaten path with no hookups. Not sure what their policy is on them. Your best bet is to head out and find an island with a nice camp site. There are many to choose from but you usually won't find an empty one on holiday weekends. With school having started back you might actually get lucky though. Many will have signs that say no camping but just do like everybody else and ignore them until somebody shows up and tells you to leave, but that is unlikely. Just leave NOTHING behind and take away more trash than you create. Good luck

Put in at Kowidga boat ramp, head East under btige, go all the way down and under the power lines and look to right.  See the dam, turn right and pick a spot.  CalledGoat Island, camped there for years, great spot.
