It will be real interesting to see what he can accomplish since he is just 1 of a 100. Maybe a run for President??  Trump did it by grabbing crotches...

There is a black State Representative from Montgomery named Alvin Holmes.  Alvin's first reaction to just about anything is to scream racism, no matter how ludicrous it might be to any level headed human being.  He is a joke everywhere except in his district.  My son was working in the food service industry one time when his employer got the gig to supply a reception for community leaders.  One of the offerings on the food line was boiled shrimp.  My son tells me he sees Alvin stuffing all the shrimp into his pocket then loudly says "reckon when they gonna bring some more of those scrimps".  In another case he was stopped for weaving all over the road and when the officer asked him to get out of his truck it was obvious he had peed all over himself.  Inexplicably he was not arrested.  I asked a black co-worker how it is that he keeps getting elected and my friend said "look at his constituency", meaning his district is among the poorest and blackest in Montgomery, and his cries of racism at every turn makes them think he is standing up for them.

OK, long winded but the parallel applies to Roy Moore.  He plays to his base, which is the conservative Christian populace.  He is no dummy, but if elected his influence will wane, because as another poster said (in a way), he is going from being a big fish in a little pond to a guppy in the ocean.  His schtick won't go anywhere in DC.  Question is, though, will we be able to replace him when he comes up for reelection?

I would encourage all to consider Doug Jones. Don't just write him off because he is running as a Democrat. He is a moderate and would represent Alabama well.

“But when those people ? I want to make sure people understand, that once a baby is born, I’m going to be there for that child,” he continued. “That’s where I become a right-to-lifer.”

Doug Jones is a pro-abortion absolutist

As Hot Air points out, Jones favors late-term abortion. He opposes a bill that would ban abortions after 20 weeks on the federal level. He even opposes the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits public funding of abortions. Jones, therefore, might be forgiven for believing that he favors the right to have an abortion up to the moment of birth and is cool with the idea of taxpayer money being used to pay for it. Jones will certainly be called upon to clarify his views and reveal if he does favor any restrictionson abortion at all. Most abortions are banned in Alabama after 22 weeks, though the matter is still pending in the courts, according to the New York Times, The only states where there are no restrictions of when an abortion can take place are Alaska, Colorado, Washington D.C, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Vermont, and West Virginia.

Late term abortions tend to be rare even in states where they are allowed. There is little information available on why such procedures are done, though abortion supporters claim they are used primarily for medical reasons,

Todd asked Jones a series of questions in the 7-minute long interview, televised nationally. On gun rights , Jones said he is “a Second Amendment guy.”

“We’ve got limitations on all constitutional amendments in one form or another,” Jones said.  “I want to enforce the laws that we have right now. The biggest issue, I think, that’s facing the Second Amendment right now is that we need to make sure we shore up the National Crime Information System, the NCIC system for background checks, to both keep guns out of the hands of criminals, but at the same time, cut down on error so that law-abiding citizens can get those.”

Jones said he loves to hunt and has a case full of his own guns, but wants to make sure regulations are “smart.”

One day before birth its fine to kill a baby, its just gotta be born before he stands up for it.  Yup real standup "moderate"  Guess he just takes a knee for the unborn.  I can support a lot of things but murdering unborn children after 22 weeks is a line I can not cross without the mothers life hanging by that decision.

Guess I will have to wait to see what his "smart" regulations on 2nd amendment looks like to see how he stacks up against crazy Roy Moore - may have to write in Mrs. Potato Head.

Point taken, as my post could be interpreted (but wasn't intended) that way.  Alvin has his core, and Moore has his core.  There is no comparison of the two individuals intended.

Have to agree that many Moore votes came because the Strange appointment smelled like a barrel of dead cats in biology lab.  That being said, Moore does have his core.

When I went to the polls as they handed my my ballot I made the statement I will have to hold my nose while I do this. She responded we have heard that a lot today, so much so we should have handed out clothes pins with the ballots. I voted for Moore to send a message. My hope is he gets primaries in the next election and is sent packing. Leaving lying Luther in office was not an option for me.
