CBS fired an executive on its legal team after she wrote on Facebook about how she was "not even sympathetic" to the victims of the mass shooting in Las Vegas.

A New York-based lawyer for CBS was fired Monday after writing on Facebook that she “is not even sympathetic” for victims of the shooting in Las Vegas Sunday that resulted in the deaths of at least 59 concertgoers.

The network confirmed to The Washington Post that Hayley Geftman-Gold, who was a vice president and senior legal counsel, lost her job for her social media comments. In her post, which has since been deleted, Geftman-Gold wrote, “If they wouldn’t do anything when children were murdered I have no hope the Repugs will ever do the right thing. I’m actually not even sympathetic bc country music fans are often republican gun toters.”

There are bad people in this world.  Thankfully we have at least one less by his own hands.

I was shocked to read that someone could be that cold about 58 dead people and I'm glad CBS immediately fired her.  As far as the lunatic that killed all those people - if there is a hell, he's there.  It's hard to imagine someone with that much hate.

And of course, the gun control advocats are just having a field day.  they are so excited to think that Trump might cave on gun control because he said that we'll talk about gun control later.  Typical knee jerk reaction.

And the weapons used had been converted from semi-automatic to automatic and thus were illegal.  So we are supposed to enact more laws that evil people will flaunt just as this Satan did in Las Vegas?  Makes no sense. (Not directed at you, Hound).

The rifles used in Las Vegas had the legal bump stock installed and were legal.

Interesting.  I stand corrected. The little experience I had with them at the range would not have resulted in the rapid, evenly spaced firing I heard on the sound bites taken during the shooting.  Obviously his worked well....too well.

A week ago I could have bought a dozen bump stocks for my ar. Now, every gun supply store and website is sold out.

Democrats already working on ban for bump stocks and I am sure that anything over a 5 round magazine is next.  Surefire magazines which are being alleged to have made his higher capacity 60/100 round mags are already having financial investments pulled and I am sure the ban is coming.

Prices will go through the roof before the ban - if you ever wanted them get them, do it now before they are nonexistant or so expensive that its not worth it.

"On the auction site Gunbrokers.com, the price of one bump stock swelled this week from $129 to $655 by late Wednesday."

I imagine we will see the ban on the gun bumpstock.  From what I have read, it is not of much use for range shooting or hunting.  I imagine the Democrats will add on silencers, since the anti gun lobby seems to think that a lot of people are using them.  I've never thought much about silencers, except in the movies where professional assassins use them.  Maybe Democrats watch too many action movies.

Time for a major fund raiser for the NRA!!!!!! I still cannot understand why the right supports not expanding background checks on terrorists. Maybe, they support terrorists. Hope common sense will prevail this time. Yes, I own a firearm.

WASHINGTON — Top congressional Republicans, who have for decades resisted any legislative limits on guns, signaled on Wednesday that they would be open to banning the firearm accessory that the Las Vegas gunman used to transform his rifles to mimic automatic weapon fire.

For a generation, Republicans in Congress — often joined by conservative Democrats — have bottled up gun legislation, even as the carnage of mass shootings grew ever more gruesome and the weaponry ever more deadly. A decade ago, they blocked efforts to limit the size of magazines after the massacre at Virginia Tech. Five years later, Republican leaders thwarted bipartisan legislation to expand background checks of gun purchasers after the mass shooting at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn.

Last year, in the wake of the Orlando nightclub massacre, they blocked legislation to stop gun sales to buyers on terrorism watch lists.

So we need more background checks so we can stop terrorist?  As I have said several times before, more lives could be saved by simply banning gun ownership by dimokraps than by any background checks on earth.  Investigate, and let us know what you find out.  Put all illegally obtained gun owners in prison and the ghettos would be empty.  Ya gotta go to the source of the problem, and it's not the gun.  I hope we find out the real motive of the LV killer, before the dimokrap idiots go berserk.  Can you imagine the future if you want to give one of your guns to a grandson, but you are forbidden without all sorts of taxes, fees, inheritance taxes, blood tests, etc.  That's what you are advocating.  I'll betcha LV killer bought every one of his guns after undergoing background tests.....did it stop him?

"Can you imagine the future if you want to give one of your guns to a grandson" What is the problem if the grandson goes through the same background check as if he bought it from a dealer? If you give him a car, he still needs to register it same as if he bought it from a dealer. You need to come out of the woods to the real world.

One reason that the NRA refuses to negotiate is because they have been burned before by the anti-gun lobby.  As soon as they might agree to one change, then the anti-gun lobby tries to take it further.  We know that the end goal of the anti-gun lobby is to ban guns, despite the Supreme Court Ruling about the right to bear under the Second Amendment.  So why take a step in that direction?

Many people understand that banning guns will not make the population safer.  Has it made the UK safer?

Reports are currently 30+ guns in the last year all legally obtained from dealers with background checks.  4473 forms on all of his guns.

intersting that a custom gun he got on his way to vegas has not been located.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/05/us/las-vegas-shooting.html

LAS VEGAS — The National Rifle Association on Thursday endorsed tighter restrictions on devices that allow a rifle to fire bullets as fast as a machine gun — a rare, if small, step for a group that for years has vehemently opposed any new gun controls.

Twelve of the rifles the Las Vegas gunman, Stephen Paddock, had in a high-rise hotel suite when he opened fire on a crowd on Sunday were outfitted with “bump stocks,” devices that allow a semiautomatic rifle to fire hundreds of rounds per minute, which may explain how he was able to shoot so quickly, killing 58 people and wounding hundreds of others. The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has ruled that bump stocks do not violate laws that tightly limit ownership of machine guns, and some lawmakers have called for them to be banned.

The bureau should revisit the issue and “immediately review whether these devices comply with federal law,” the N.R.A. said in a statement released Thursday. “The N.R.A. believes that devices designed to allow semiautomatic rifles to function like fully-automatic rifles should be subject to additional regulations.”

• Investigators on Wednesday confirmed that the gunman had left a note inside his suite at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. “It was not a suicide note — I’m comfortable saying that,” Sheriff Joseph Lombardo of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said.

• “It never occurred to me in any way whatsoever that he was planning violence against anyone,” Marilou Danley, the gunman’s girlfriend, said in her first public statement on Wednesday.

• Of the 489 people injured in the shooting, 317 have been discharged from hospitals and about 50 are in critical condition.

I want to know what he wrote before doing this - I have a feeling they know the motive or more information then is being reported.

well now they only fear  guns, acid, trucks, knives and explosives.  They do not have to worry about gun related suicides or accidental shootings - just the intentional ones.

Go one step further...the grandson has to take a test to get his drivers license.

What is the problem with everyone going through a background check for obtaining any firearm? Why should only those who buy from a licensed dealer?

How would you feel if you sold the firearm as an individual without a check to someone who used it for a mass murder?

"There are several ways to buy guns in the US. You can buy them from a licensed retail outlet, a gun show, online, and through a private sale.

Background checks are only required if you purchase a gun through a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL), which includes retailers (anyone from Walmart to mom and pop shops) and some individuals. You do not need to undergo a background check if you buy a gun online, through a gun show, or through some private sales."

Anyone who suggests that guns will be banned is smoking something. Guns will never be banned. Anti gun lobbies like Brady want tighter regulation. Those who post that there is some big anti gun lobby that will take your guns are just fools. It ain't never going to happen but send money so we can fight those liberal lobbies.

oh so now you want to go from registration of a car to registering a gun to a drivers license - got it your first argument didnt hold water and now you want to keep it up.

So why not a universal gun registration which is where that logic will go so that the government knows where every gun should be located.

https://drgo.us/we-told-you-so-gun-registration-leads-to-confiscation/

OK how about we allow you to have a test every year that you have to pay for lets just say $50 per year to allow you to speak in public or post on a public website.  Why not its a constitutional right and if we can do it for the 2nd why not the 1st?

Liberals claim that we should not need to produce ID to vote, but damn sure have to have it get a gun from grandpa.  You D logic is amazing.

Driving a car is not a right under the constitution / bill of rights.  Your ignorance is showing.

"Background checks are only required if you purchase a gun through a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL), which includes retailers (anyone from Walmart to mom and pop shops) and some individuals. You do not need to undergo a background check if you buy a gun online, through a gun show, or through some private sales." " - GFY

So anyone can sell a gun at a gun show without a background check - Bull droppings.  Every time I have been to a gun show there are computers and people on cell phones calling in background checks -- its the PRIVATE SALES that do not have to on a normal day that do not call in a background check at gun shows.

I would be fine if the legislative a$$hats stopped at check to see if someone should not get a gun and do a background check, the next step just like your car is to register it.  I am fine with give me a phone number I can call to see if someone buying a gun should have it or not, but when you require a registry what is in my home so you can decide at some future time that I should not be allowed to own this model or that  - one big fat nope.

Another reason to not allow a government or anyone for that matter  to have more information on you then necessary:

http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/09/politics/office-of-personnel-management-data-breach-20-million/index.html

http://money.cnn.com/2017/09/07/technology/business/equifax-data-breach/index.html

woops add 2.5 million more to make that 145 million +/-

yup nothing can go wrong, we are the government and we are here to help ......

Ahh you mention Brady

Sarah Brady, Chairperson for Handgun Control, Inc. (now the Brady Campaign)

“…I don’t believe gun owners have rights.”

“We would like to see, in the future, what we will probably call needs-based licensing of all weapons. …Where it would make it much more difficult for anybody to be able to purchase handguns….”

Jim Brady

“[Handguns] For target shooting, that’s okay.  Get a license and go to the range.  For defense of the home, that’s why we have police.”

Bill Clinton, Former President of the United States

“Only the police should have handguns.”

“When personal freedom’s being abused, you have to move to limit it. That’s what we did in the announcement I made last weekend on the public housing projects, about how we’re going to have weapon sweeps”

Dianne Feinstein, U.S. Senator from California

“Banning guns addresses a fundamental right of all Americans to feel safe.”

“If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an outright ban, picking up every one of them; “Mr. and Mrs. America, turn ’em all in,” I would have done it.”

Pete Stark, U.S. Representative from California

“If a bill to ban handguns came to the house floor, I would vote for it.”

William Clay, U.S. Representative from Missouri

” …we need much stricter gun control, and eventually should bar the ownership of handguns”

Joseph Biden, Vice President of the United States

“Banning guns is an idea whose time has come.”

John Chafee, Former U.S. Senator from Rhode Island

“I shortly will introduce legislation banning the sale, manufacture or possession of handguns (with exceptions for law enforcement and licensed target clubs)… .  It is time to act.  We cannot go on like this.  Ban them!”

Jan Schakowsky, U.S. Representative from Illinois

“I believe…..this is my final word……I believe that I’m supporting the Constitution of the United States which does not give the right for any individual to own a handgun….”

Major Owens, U.S. Representative from New York

“We have to start with a ban on the manufacturing and import of handguns. From there we register the guns which are currently owned, and follow that with additional bans and acquisitions of handguns and rifles with no sporting purpose.”

Bobby Rush, U.S. Representative from Illinois

“My staff and I right now are working on a comprehensive gun-control bill.  We don’t have all the details, but for instance, regulating the sale and purchase of bullets.  Ultimately, I would like to see the manufacture and possession of handguns banned except for military and police use.  But that’s the endgame.  And in the meantime, there are some specific things that we can do with legislation.”

Elliot Corbett, Secretary, National Council for a Responsible Firearms Policy

“Handguns should be outlawed.”

Violence Policy Center (VPC)

“[gun] Licensing systems are very expensive to administer … licensing and registration in America would have little effect on the vast majority of gun violence.”

“[We are] the largest national gun control advocacy group seeking a ban on handgun production.”

Brooks Brown, SAFE Colorado

“It was worth lying to him or deceiving him …”

Adolf Hitler

“The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing.”

V.I. Lenin

“One man with a gun can control 100 without one. … Make mass searches and hold executions for found arms.”

There is no question in my mind that the anti-gun lobby seeks the banning of all guns from private ownership.  I wonder what Ms. Brady would say if she lives where I live.  She lives in Northern VA where the police are less than 10 minutes away.  I guess she would tell me to move to town.

I happened on an antigun lobby page - the group that Bloomberg runs.  He was matching dollar for dollar every donation to their cause.

I personally don't care if they ban bumpstocks. If they do that and the anti-gun lobby feels like they got a big win, then so be it.

Agree with you in principle on the bump stocks, but one needs to be wary of the "give them an inch they will take a mile" syndrome.

Also agree about safety in NorVa.  Took a bike ride after work and went a little longer than I should, and as I was passing under the 395 bridges on the way back, well after sunset (it was DARK) was thinking how lucky we are in Arlington County to be able to walk or ride at night and not feel threatened.  BTW, apt lease ends Nov 19.  No more extensions.  Coming home.

Live it, believe it.  Worst thing that has happened in almost 2 1/2 years is someone with a new fancy car parked in the Hilton Garden Inn area of our parking deck came out one morning to find himself shy four rims and tires.  Not saying it won't happen, but I am much more comfortable in the areas of NorVa I frequent than just about any mall or shopping center parking lot in Montgomery.

Glad you are ending your time "abroad".  I think if you live in a nice area, like where you are living, it is pretty safe.  The police forces are better staffed and it doesn't take them 30-45 minutes to get to you if there is a problem.  I don't think rims, esp. if they are out of the ordinary, are safe anywhere.  There are some positive things about living in NoVA, but the traffic is horrendous and the cost of living matches.  The property taxes are outrageous.

Yes, and the monthly cost of a 700 square foot one bedroom apartment approaches $2K.

The sobering thing about the scores of construction cranes in the D.C. Metro area, to include Virginia and Maryland is that it is all fueled by taxpayer dollars.  There is but one industry in the area and that is Government.  Other than maybe some lobbyists, all the money can be traced back to you and me the taxpayers.

You stated that no one at gun shows do background checks - I stated that you are a liar, dealers just like online dealers have to have a background check.

People who want to sell a gun personally go to gun shows sometimes to sell -  under the current law this is legal without a background check just as if you want to sell or give your gun to little GFY.

You used to make some sense but I think Trump has clouded you to the point you really do need to go see CrapperTime for some mental health drugs and turn in your weapons before you become a danger to society.
