Subject:	Vinyl cleaners

I know this belongs in the maintenance forum but this one gets the most traffic.  Anyone use one or all of these products to clean vinyl; 3M vinyl cleaner cream, 303 Multi-surface cleaner or Malco leather plastic cleaner? Looking for opinions on any or all.   Not looking for feedback on bleach solutions, magic erasers, household cleaners or degreaser solutions as all of those are not safe or recommended for vinyl.

I have never used any of those cleaners but my boat dealer that I purchased my Bennington recommened this solution

1/3 ammonia

1/3 peroxide

1/3 water

It has worked well for me and will not harm vinyl.

Not sure what you've experienced or been told about using bleach for mildew and mold on vinyl, but I have to say I've had good results over the years using Clorox Cleanup on all vinyl.  Granted, in the old days heavy concentrations of bleach would eat up the cotton stitching in the seats, but since manufacturers have used synthetic threads the straight out of the bottle Clorox Cleanup has worked for 30 years for me.  No rotted sewing threads, no deteriation of the vinyl.  C.C. is a weak bleach solution with detergent.  I spray it on and wipe with dry cloth.  Don't wash it off.  The residue keeps working.

Wife was scouting around on Amazon and bought some 3M marine mildew stain remover.  Comes in a pint size bottle and is a spray and wipe product.  The label says it contains a bleach based formula.  This is hands down the best mildew remover and vinyl cleaner I've tried.  Only took me 1.5 hours to clean a 24ft pontoon boat. 

They recommend using their 3M marine mildew block after cleaning.  I have a supply of 303 marine aerospace protectant, so used that instead.  Boat looks like new.

30 second off is the best thing but rinse, rinse and rinse again.  Then wash and rinse agin.

Thanks all for the comments.  I will order all three of the cleaners I posted about give them a try.  Mold is not my issue.  I just want to give the seats a good cleaning.  I will probably just try dish soap and warm water first.   I have used bleach solutions in the past.  From my understanding it will get them clean but it is still causing damage to the UV coatings, mold inhibitators, and plastisizers (keep the vinyl soft) regardless of what dilution you use.  UPSMAN is on the right track with his ammonia and peroxide solution for removing mold.  I am going to go by the book this time with this new boat so no bleach or household cleaners on this one.

The book that came with my last aqua patio recommended Fantastic  cleaner for the vinyl  seats. Bleach solutions can be used if you replace the US protectant. I have used nothing but 303 Areospace Protectant is the best. I have never used the 303 Cleaner but if it is half as good as the Protectant it is great.
