According to a Pew study, other than softening their perspective on the issue of homosexuality (i.e., more accepting), conservative views on major issues are about the same as in the past.  Not so for left wing nuts who have apparently become even more left wing.  No wonder they keep losing elections other than in big cities, the northeast and the west coast where they have flocked together like rodents.  But if someone claims the right is responsible for the growing rancor it just isn't so.  We still believe what we believe in about the same numbers.  It's the left that has shifted and become more ideological and marginalized in their views.  No wonder they want to suppress free speech.......they can't stand it that their views are more isolated from what the rest of us think.

I think this is what their base wants.  It seems to be that the overall population of likely Democratic voters are increasingly looking for handouts on the backs of everyone else.  One need only look at the Puerto Rico situation - they were looking for a continued handout from the government, despite all the aid they have already been given - not only from the government, but various charitable organizations, volunteers, and such.  Trump is right that we cannot continue to support them indefinitely.  I don't know when people started to think that the U.S. government owes them a living, but that is what it is, and the Democratic party is the biggest would-be enablers.  Happened to look at a list of possible Democrats that might run in 2020, and I didn't see a single viable candidate.
