Of course they have to do this.  Does anyone recognize this women or ever heard of her before?  I know I have not but she is getting her few minutes of fame for jumping on the #metoo bandwagon.  So what started out as a series of complaints about some Hollyweird perv has rapidly morphed into an avalanche of claims of sexual harassment, often from long ago.  It will be a good day when this latest mania fades into oblivion.  Honestly, an 89 year old guy in a wheelchair with dementia and Parkinsons sexually harrassed this woman?!?!?  Give me a break!

Sometimes, as people age and he was in his late 80s when this supposed happened - the elderly do sometimes touch other people, which might not be totally explainable.  And sometimes they say things that they would never had said at a younger age.  A friend who has a monther in her late 80s, will sometimes touch the fabric of something that appeals to her - even if it is on a stranger.  And she blurts out whatever pops into her head.

So it may well have happened, but I doubt there was anyting sexual about it.

I was sexually harassed by two different bosses in my younger years.  I didn't make an issue out of it - in one case, I just made sure we were never alone and in the other, I just looked for another job.  Yes, it does happen, but there are ways to put a stop to it and not embarass anyone involved.  Now, in the case of Weinstein, he held the keys to what women wanted, so they went along with it because they sought fame over their dignity; now secure in their careers, they feel it's okay to come out publicly about something that happened many years ago.  Not only okay, but an obligation.

I think the key here is that not only do they feel secure in their careers but they sense, rightly so, that not only can't Harvey hurt them anymore but there is something to be gained by jumping on the bandwagon.  What's the old saying in Hollyweird, even bad press is good press or something like that.  The only ones with an ounce of courage are the ones that made this an issue when he could and did harm their careers.  The rest of them are gutless narcissists that are like vultures pouncing on a dead body.  Everyone knows about the "casting couch" in Hollyweird but no one had the courage to say a dang thing until it could no longer harm their sacred careers.

I'm sorry to hear about the harassment and it sounds like you handled it well.  Times have changed in that regard and I am very, very cautious not to say or do anything that could be construed as harassment, sexual or otherwise.  It takes a lifetime to create a reputation and zero time flat to destroy it.  On that note, I only had one experience in my career when a married female engineer that worked for me was having an affair with our married Chief Engineer.  I had to address the issue and stupidly said to her that she was very talented and didn't want the reputation of having advanced by sleeping with the Chief Engineer.....yeah, I know it was dumb.  She filed a complaint but fortunately our management at the time was well aware of what was going on and transferred the two of them to another office.  They both ended up divorcing their respective spouses and got married.  Was a real learning lesson for me and I now leave these kinds of issues to the HR professionals.
