I just don't get it.  Virginia had a Dem governor and went for Hillary in 2016.  And NJ is a deep blue state that elected RINO Christie that had all sorts of controversies and is a first rate a-hole.  If the GOP won either of these seats it could only have happened with voter fraud...which of course unlike the Dems we do not do.  So I don't get the breathlessness of this other than Dems overreacting to try to get their juju back.

Unlike far too many others, I have been around long enough to know that control swings back and forth in politics.  The economy goes up and goes down.  Proclamations on either side that the other party is dead are always wrong.  Remains to be seen if Trump does to the GOP what Obama did to the Democrats. It could happen, especially with the epic fail on repeal and replacement of Obamacare and if they can't get tax reform done.

but but but It shows that Trump Russia collusion is real and is a path forward for the D's to retake all local/state/federal election from here out since it shows that a R lost to a D in heavy D land.

/sarcasm off

I know and it makes me wonder if this is the the usual inside the beltway bicoastal echo chamber at work or if they really believe this stuff.  Maybe it is indeed a harbinger of things to come for the GOP but I think wins in VA and NJ don't actually make that case.

Closer to home, what do you think of the 3 Geogia special elections in deep red districts all won by Dems?. In 2016, the Dems did not even field a candidate.

Which races?  There were a bunch.

Deborah Gonzales won House District 117 with 53 percent of the vote and Jonathan Wallace won House District 119 with 56 percent of the vote. Both seats are in the Athens area and both were vacant, hence the special elections. But not only were the two seats previously held by Republican incumbents, they were uncontested in the 2016 elections.

The result in HD-117 should be particularly alarming for Republicans. Mitt Romney won it by a crushing 54-44 margin back in 2012. Donald Trump fared much worse than that, winning by just 49-46, but nonetheless winning. Gonzales ran 7 points stronger than Clinton and flipped what had been an overwhelmingly Republican district as recently as five years ago.

Would have to look at the demogrphics of those districts to know what these results mean.  Athens is where UGA is located so it would not surprise me if that has flipped.  Not sure about the other.  If the GOP is losing in solidly Republican districts that would indeed be a bad sign......or a good sign for you.  Energy on the anti-Trump left combined with disgust on the right because of the lack of fulfilled campaign promises.  As I said above, these things wax and wane and can do so very quickly, especially for seats that only go two years.  Especially when the incumbent retires there is an opening.

One vote for the democrats

33% of VA democrat voters said they voted against President Donald J Trump; the other 67% voted against the RINO.

They hope that it is a meaningful sign - that is how desperate they are.  LOL, CNN.com was fairly drooling in their reporting.  I was personally sad to see that my friend, Rich Anderson lost his seat in the  VA State Legislator.  This man and his wife are the epitome of self less service and I really doubt that my old county will find a better represenative.

The Democrats are licking their chops thinking they are going to take over the Congress in 2018.  But then, who can say what will happen in the future - North Korea may bomb us off the map..... I keep trying to imagine where Democrats will find viable candidates that aren't retreads that have been previously rejected.
