Seventy-seven percent of college-degreed Democrats think sex is not determined at birth.  It’s a poll from the Pew Research Center. here

These are the folks that say you are born queer and can never change but your gender/sex can be chosen whenever you have that kind of urge.

And these are the same folks that extoll the certainty of scientific concensus on global warming/climate change/climate activity because of my bar-b-que grill out back is sucking the life sustaining nutrients from the atmosphere.

Can some of you forum Democrats who are charter members of that mensa group help the rest of us understand the 77%?

This idea of gender determination has me thinking about my childhood.  I was a girl, dressed like a girl, but I was fascinated by horses throughout my childhood.  My dearest wish when I was 7 was to get a "farm set" for Christmas and I did.  I didn't play with dolls, although they were provided to me.  Now suppose my parents watched me and decided that I was really a boy in a girl body?  Although schools did not permit it in my time, suppose my parents decided to dress me in boy clothes becasue I didn't especially like dresses.  I know in this time, it is about letting a child be who they think they are - I enjoyed playing with trucks, becasue what kid doesn't like to play in the dirt and move stuff around?  I loved going to the dump with my grandfather, because who knew what kind of cool stuff might be there.

By the time I was a teenager, I had outgrown my tomboy days.  But if during my childhood my parents had decided I was a boy in a girl's body becasue of what i liked and what I played with, might I have been raised as a boy?

I think sex is determined at the time of birth and I shudder to think of parents that decide at a very tender age that their child's gender is not right and push them down that road.  I've heard of people considering gender reassignment surgery at a very young age.

The very liberal version of childhood scares me thinking about what kind of people these children will become.  Confused about their identity?  Thinking that there will always be someone there to make it right?
