Has anyone installed an HDTV antenna in the Sandy Creek area?  As I understand the technology it has to have line of site with the signal source.  Was curious if that has been an issue in the area.  I don't want to go through the hassle of installing the antenna on the roof of my house only to find out it doesn't get a signal due to lack of line of sight to the transmitter.

My experience in real creek area is you will be able to get cbs, abc, and lbs plus some religious stations with most rooftop antennas. Inside antennas are a waste of time. I bought an antenna rated for 60 miles from walmart. Since then they have come out with a 70 mile antenna that I am going to try. I sometimes get channel 17, which has some good stations, but it cuts out with my 60 mile antenna. I think you just have to experiment.

I am in the Little Kowaliga area and I have one for testing on a pole, ground level pointing through thick trees and some structures.

I get all stations from Montgomery clearly except WNCF ABC. I believe it it were located on top of my house I could get everything. Problem is getting someone to go on the roof and install it! If you find an installer please let me know.

I put one up in Sandy Creek and got very little.  And it was the mostest baddest antenna you can get.

There is a mountain between myself and Montgomery.  Other people might have better luck.  Also couldn't get quite four stations in Stillwaters.

Remember its digital.  Perfect or nothing.  And it does look better than cable or satellite.

I have researched and put one in at my Mother's house, out in the country, today.  I checked several sides and settled on a place where the owner was great to communicate and help

Here is the site

There are sites like tvfool.com where you enter actual address and get an indication of what you might receive.  At my Mother's I received more and better than the site indicated, but we have few trees and wide open spaces.

I bought an HD Stacker Antenna with a Winegard Pre amplifier (exactly what the guy recommended)

Siganal is great.  Picture is better than Direct TV, or my cable at home.  Happy so far

P.S.  No way it would have worked at my Lake House.  too low and too many trees, and indeed tvfool.com knew that.

I tried a unit from Wallyworld and 'no joy' -- returned it.  Live on the Lake near mouth of Sandy, nearest transmission station is MGM, too far for reception..

Yeah, I looked at the website that estimates signal projection and even with a 50' antenna height there was very little signal.  Looks to me like this is not going to be an option.
