Congyers announced today that he is retiring and will not seek re-election.  He is endorsing his son to replace him.... LOL

Just goes to show you how screwed up our political system is - where people in their late 80s and 90s get re-elected to office.  They can't stand to be away from the perks, the soundbites and the general ass-kissing that goes along with being a member of Congress.  But really, at that age, how effective are they?  We get the respresentation we deserve when we continually vote these people in.

Whoever replaces him will be no better.  The voters in that district will put in a younger version of Conyers who will keep them firmly on the plantation.

You can never accept anything at "face" value. You always have to refer to the actions of someone else in an effort to justify your opinion.

No, actually it is much different.  With Moore we are talking about creepy behavior 30-40 years ago.  With Conyers we are talking about recent behavior using his office to sexually harass women who worked for him, including molesting a woman in church.  If you don't see the difference you need serious help.   I am no fan of Moore but the fact that the press chose to hold this info until after he won the nomination stinks and the voters of Alabama should not reward them for this.
