I can hardly wait to read all the usual poster's comments. 1, 2, 3....GO!

I didn't vote.  Jones won because he was able to get out the vote.  Can't say I am thrilled that a Democrate is added to the Senate, but if Republicans had really wanted to win, they wouldn't have put up such a ridiculous candidate.  I don't think the sexual assault accusations are what cost him the election - but rather people are fed up with Moore.

Hillary Clinton was a ridiculous candidate. Donald Trump was a ridiculous candidate. Roy Moore was a ridiculous candidate. But Doug Jones seems to be a smart, good person, without scandal and forward-looking. In my opinion, it's a 'win' for Alabama. I can hardly wait for Trump's tweets. Should be entertaining.

Trump just blamed the "write ins" for changing the course of the election.  He congratulated Jones, but he also said that he will only have the seat for a short while and he will have a hard time for re-election.  If what I am hearing is true, GOP officials begged Trump not to go all in on Moore.  But Trump didn't listen, and while it is Moore's loss, Trump has some egg on his face.

But the Republicans didn't put Moore in as the candidate, the voters did. Unfortunately, just like the Alabama voters can be hoodwinked by the wealthy land owners who say "the schools just need to do a better job with the money we give them and thus don't need to raise property taxes", so are the religious conservative voters hoodwinked by the likes of Roy Moore into thinking he is a Godly person looking out for their spiritual well being. Nothing could be farther from the truth.  I voted for Moore as a strategic choice, not because I think he would be a good senator but he has an "R" behind his name.

i guess Soros managed to pump enough of his billions into Alabama to pull this one out.  Lord only knows the airwaves and even Facebook were a veritable carpet of Jones ads.

I heard one estimate that upwards of 45 million dollars was behind Jones by various out of state pacs. Goes to show that with enough money even a D can beat a accused chlid molester by 1.5 percent.

We had a choice between a douche and a turd sandwich.

But "But Doug Jones seems to be a smart, good person, without scandal and forward-looking. In my opinion, it's a 'win' for Alabama."

the jury is still out on all of that, I think he is a race baiting turd (or at least his supporters at highway 31 are), new standards for politics have been set and they are not "good"

Here is the reality about this.  The voters who chose Moore in the primary did not know about these issues with young women.  Had they known it is possible, if not likely, that he would not be the nominee.  It does not surprise me in the least that he lost as I stated in a thread below.  The govt media scores another win and adds another lackey to the Senate for at least two years.  Now will be interesting to see if Franken actually resigns.  The end game for his departure is to go after Trump and Moore would have been the icing on the cake if he won and was removed.  Then the media and their minion Democrats would have been screaming that Franken resigned, Conyers retired, Moore was removed.....now what about Trump?!?!?  I actually hope Franken reneges on his pledge to resign some day.

Another consequence of the election is that between Jones and the RINO's there will be no tax reform or repeal of Obamacare.  Neither of those happen and I am pretty sure the GOP will lose the House next year and the Senate in 2020.  They said they needed Congress and the WH, they got it and did nothing.  Hard to argue they deserve our support if they cannot govern.  Either way, now the Democrats will have another seat in a deep red state to defend in 2020.

Franken's replacement to be announced tomorrow.

With the media already bringing back out Trumps sexual misconduct allegations, if the D's want to make it stick they have no choice to  force Franken out if he does not go willingly.  If he does not go then they have a much harder time poining fingers at Trump, you can already see the attacks starting with Gillabrand and fauxcahauntus.

And the even better silver lining is Bill Clinton is now after 30 years the pariah that he should have been, and Hillary being chief attack dog of the Bimbo eruptions is going to have a much harder time in todays sexual misconduct climate.  But then again D's dont ever hold themselves to any standards or morals.

We'll see if he actually accepts being the sacrificial lamb.  I remain skeptical but given their TDS I can imagine them forcing him out.  Especially since this doesn't cost them anything.  We'll see how they react when others are outed that would result in them losing a seat.  I remain skeptical that they will be as "principled" in that case as they are with Franken and Conyers.

I will take them seriously when they actually lose something like the GOP did in Alabama.  Slick Willie is a non-factor anymore so I find all the belated awareness as nothing more than cynicism.  And Franken and Conyers will be replaced by other Dems.  Until they actually have something to lose they are just gutless opportunisits who will do or say anything to win back control.

As long as it does not hurt their prospects of power a D will do anything.

zero cost as you said is the key to what they are doing.

Personally I can not wait till they open the whole list of people who have used the sexual slush fund to pay off people - I imagine there will be lots of appointments both R and Das they step down or get pushed out.

And as for the new M.O. for elections - all better be squeeky clean because a opposition dossier is around the corner, and allegations must be believed from here out -- well till the next bigger better claim - we have gone through race, Russia, religion and now are at sex.  Can not wait to see what is the next show stopper.

Funny that Schumer had a little scare with sexual harassment recently - it is claimed that it was forged/fraud - one of the comments at the washington post story indicated that maybe the accuser was paid off through the slush fund to claim it was forged.

I woud like to see a third party handwriting analysis myself to be sure - you can not be too careful in todays #metoo climate.
