Was it on the dam side of Dopson point road or Castaway side. On the castaway side we have yelled at them when they were skeet shooting over the water and shot raining down on our yard while kids were playing. They did change their direction so that the shot landed on unoccupied houses. Had much more dangerous situation when somebody shot a squirrel near the water that went zinging through my yard while I worked on a sprinkler head. He shortly got in his car and left.

I'm sure it's the same people. They also do a lot to target shooting in their back yard with at least pistols but I think I remember larger caliber weapons too. Would sure hate to live behind them.

It definitely ruined my dog's day, and a neighbor down the Slough wouldn't let his kids come down to the dock.  I predict that today will be even worse.

I did some checking, and they are too close to a few houses to legally be shooting. I guess maybe they will have to get a visit from Sheriff Santa. I hate to do that, especially on Christmas, but then again they are ruining mine, my dog's, and that neighbor's.

It sounds like for the safety of everyone involved, they need to get a visit from the Sheriff.

Are you in an incorporated city or town limits? If not then your neighbors are free to shoot their weapons however they see fit. If they cause any damage you can try taking them to court.

If it happens again, call the sheriff, especially if you hear pellets hitting your house.  People who endanger others with reckless use of firearms deserve to be prosecuted.

It seems like the "as they see fit" line should not extend past their property line, especially when there is no vacant property in the area. Once a shot has left their property, it has entered someone else's property.

I think you can call the Sheriff's office and speak to them about the problem and what the current laws are regarding the discharge of firearms within range of homes and people.  The land around our house is all woods and it is leased by Alabama Power to various hunting groups.  But I have never seen a hunter within sight of our house and property and I believe there is law about how close you can be to someone's house or property.  The neighbors may be thinking that because they are shooting out over the water then it is okay.  I guess you could also check with the marine police.
