what kind of persons says proudly ''you are lucky that I gave you the privilege to vote for me''. One that is so full of himself and BS and scare talk that he is ''privileged'' to have fooled enough people in 3 states to vote for him to allow him to sneak into the WH against the wishes of 54% of the people who voted.

And to think that Hillary could have fooled enough people in 2 states to vote for her to allow her and yourself to piss and moan about the 54% popular vote when the electoral collage was the rule.

Yes, we are lucky to have been able to vote for him, otherwise we would have been subjected to more of the "rotten, crooked" government that we now know existed during Obama's eight year rule. What has President Trump accomplished during his first year in office that you disagree with? Are you against the record increase in the stock market, the elimination of regulations that negatively affect the economy and small business, the newly enacted tax laws, the move to build a wall that will allow control of immigration and the protection from terrorists and drug smugglers crossing our borders, etc.? Our current situation in North Korea and Iran is the result of the past eight years of having those two countries "dictate" their views and actions on nuclear weapons to the United States.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    In answer to your question "what kind of person", I say one that has the "best" interest of the United States.

The only Trump ''accomplishments'' listed that I agree with is the one that is most definitively NOT one of his accomplishments...the rise in the stock market!

BTW, that rise is not a record as you stated, there have been many other one year periods when the percentage rise was greater...it rose more in the first year of Obama and that was no more an ''accomplishment'' of Obama than the 2017 rise is for Trump.  The same can be said for the 250,000 more new jobs in the last year of Obama than the first year of Trump.  But don't let the facts get in the way!

Now, your final sentenance is unclear, unsure whether you think Trump is the ''best'' we have to offer or if you think he has the ''best'' interest of the country as his guiding star, either way l would love to get hold of some of whatever you are smoking!

Whatever he is smoking is much better then the septic water you are swimming in.

My response to you is based on what I call common sense reaction to the items I listed as being positive changes that have been brought about during President Trump's first year in office. Since you can't bring yourself to acknowledge that President Trump had anything to do with any of the changes I mentioned, I offer a different approach for getting an answer from you. Forgetting President Trump, which of the first year changes that I listed do you "not" consider to be beneficial in helping to remove many obstacles that have had negative effects on our GNP and other business related entities? As to what I am smoking I can say "nothing", but you sound as if you may have imported some of California's new, overly concentrated Mary Jane.

No worse than a bunch of Democrats who had a psychiatrist who has never examined or assessed Trump, come in and tell them what he believes is true.  No reputable psychiatrist would ever diagnose a person from afar.

Trump  is no different than other Presidents - he thinks like them, he just is willing to say what he is thinking outloud.  Believe me, Hillary likely believed that she was giving people the priviledge of voting for her.

I DID NOT refuse to attribute the ''accomplishments'' you mentioned to President Trump!  I stated clearly that I disagreed with all the ''accomplishments'' you attribute to Trump except the performance of the stock market which I pointed out was not an accomplishment directly attributable to Trump.  All the other things I agree were ''accomplishments'' that Trump can rightfully claim.  You consider them good, I consider them bad.  Do you think a difference of opinion is unacceptable in Trump's America?

Now, if you disagree with me and think Trump should be given full credit for the stock run-up in 2017 as one of his ''accomplishments''  then I assume you will similarily credit Obama for his ''accomplishment'' of the even stronger stock market performance in 2009!  The same goes for the larger increase in jobs in every year of Obama's 2nd term and 3 of the 4 years of his 1st term than in Trumps 1st year.  Is my assumption correct?  Will you congratulate President Obama in having a more impressive ''accomplishment'' when it comes to stock and job market than President Trump?

Facts are facts and alternative facts are lies.

I completely agree Hound.  But, l also have read about H. L. Menckin saying that if anybody ever started a conversation by saying ''now this is not about money'' you could be damn sure it is about money.  I think H. L. might similarily say that anybody who has to repeatedly claim how smart he is (or how rich, or how mentally balanced or how he is a ''very stable genius'') is probably not very smart (nor rich nor mentally balanced nor a genius stable or otherwise).  Sometime people who are not doctors can do a better job of diagnosis than the doctors!  Most of America sees this president very differently than the Lake Martin crowd. Trump's own actions have convinced most of America that he is emphatically, in the most negative way imaginable not ''just like other presidents''! We may eventually be proved wrong but so far there are absolutely no indications pointing in that direction!

Once again you post a series of negative OPINIONS.  In many ways this country is far better off than it was under Obama, and in my OPINION the rise of the stock market to record after record after record highs is attributable to businesses and the populace once again believing that they can grow and prosper without a crippling burden being placed on them by a government who is supposed to serve the people.

One of these days you will realize that the majority on this forum fundamentally disagree with your twisted logic and quit with the Chicken Little antics.  You tried in the early days to claim to be a "moderate" but your ranting and raving since then has proven otherwise to the Ivory Soap level of surety.

at least by your "I think H. L. might similarily say that anybody who has to repeatedly claim how smart he is (or how rich, or how mentally balanced or how he is a ''very stable genius'') is probably not very smart (nor rich nor mentally balanced nor a genius stable or otherwise)."

we can safely state that since he was constantly repeating how great he was then we can likewise make your statement "he is probably not very smart or great"

Look at Detroit, L.A., Bltimore, Chicago etc. every one of these places are disasters. Detroit, in 50 years, has gone from the most prosperious city in the world down almost to the level of a third world country! Without exception this has been the result of liberal rule! Don't they ever learn? Obviously not. I have had liberal after liberal almost run me down to tell me how intellectual and smart they are. They mindlessly chant the same old bromide. Even a dog doesn't pee on an electric fence twice!

I think a lot of liberals now, were raised in this fairy taile, where someone else will always take care of you.  They don't like the military, they believe that police are too violent, and they believe they are entitled to free care.  If left to their own devices, they will lead this country into a socialist state. Which is pretty amazing, since there hasn't been a socialist country that has lasted without a restrictive leadership.  The problem with socialism is that it ignores basic human nature.  I hear people say 'look at Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark, etc" as though they are models of great government, but what people don't mention is the tax rate in these countries is enormous.  The UK has a huge tax rate, which is why all these UK entertianers become U.S. citizens - so they don't have to pay half or more of their income to the government so people can have free education, free medical care, etc.  People are already disgusted with services the VA provides to veterans, so I wonder why they will think it will be so much better if we had free medical.

Liberals want a kind of Utopia.  I love the idea of all this free stuff too, but reality is that it will have to be paid for with a huge increase in taxes.  There is no magic fountain of money that replenishes itself from out of the blue.  I'm probably more liberal on some social issues than many in this forum, but everything has it's costs.

Mr H, I realized years ago that the vast majority of this forum never have and never will agree with my opinions...in fact I suspect a few of them would gladly extinguish mine and anybody else right to even express or hold an opinion which is contrary to their own and that they would strive force their opinion on all citizens.  Most of the opinions l have expressed on this forum would be seen by the average American would consider center to center-left but are viewed by the extreme rightwingers that dominate this forum as downright Bolshevik!

Now can you explain how my opinions expressed are ''negative''?  The differ with other opinions expressed but that makes them different or opposing or alternative, not negative.

First, while the number of Lake Martin posters on this forum is significant, keep in mind it is NOT lake-specific like the Lake Martin Topics forum.

Next, you are a naysayer to just about anything positive that has and is happening in this country. Your comment "Trump's own actions have convinced most of America that he is emphatically, in the most negative way imaginable not ''just like other presidents''! We may eventually be proved wrong but so far there are absolutely no indications pointing in that direction".  Well, if he is not like his predecessor that is a huge positive.  Stock market hitting record highs, unemployment, TO INCLUDE MINORITIES, is at its lowest in ears.  Because of the tax cut companies are giving employees bonuses and pay raises and the reduction in withholding hasn't even taken effect yet.  So yes, your poo-pooing the obvious good news is indeed negative.

There are 3 times as many Lake Martin followers on this forum as the 2d (Lake Lanier) and, while l cannot give you proof, I think you would agree that at least 75% of the posters make it clear they are of the Lake Martin contingent!

I did not disparage any of the ''good'' things that have or will happen under Trump though I expect that what you and I consider as ''good'' may on occasion be at variance.  I emphatically did express my disagreement with the ''actions'' and ''words'' this president has taken or said or encouraged.  That is my ''opinion''.  Your expressions of support of those same actions and words is an ''opinion''.  My opinion is my opinion, not my ''negative'' opinion, likewise for your opinion.

Ya, those damn liberals have just about run Seattle into the ground. Microsoft, Amazon, Costco, Starbucks and an average home price in King County approaching $1M. They should be stopped.
