The Sacremento City Council instituted a so called "Advance Peace" program to "pay" gang member not to kill people. Aftrer a violent weekend of suspected gang-related-shootings, the city council took action to reduce the bloodshed.The program offers "cash stipends" to gang menbers who remain peaceful. The program is already in Richmond and is being considered in Stockton. A homicide where five people were shot caused Mayor Darrell Steinberg to push up the vote on the controversial program. He said, "Let's get going on every-thing we can to save innocent lives". The program targets key agitators, offering them cash stipends to graduate school and remain peaceful. The city has to pay half half the cost of the program, $1.5 million out of the city's general fund. The program runs 18 months and involves giving gang members "job training and mentoring". It is said that tons of these gang members are "DREAMERS". And this is what the DemocRATS are willing to shut down the government for.                                                                                                                                                                                                                 What has happened to enforcing the laws of our country? Deportations don't work since they come back four or five times, and commit murder just like the young woman killed in San Francisco. There is no "wonder"  that the farmers, middle class, hard working citizens are fed up and want to become the 51st state. California is a prime example of the "tail wagging the dog" and can be added to the S---HOLE list! You know, seriously, don't you wonder about anyone that actually thinks would work?  It's like paying people to turn in guns.  They end up with a bunch of junk guns and the criminals get money.

One thing I failed to mention in my original post was that the cash stipend is a $1000.00 a month. It is absurd that our elected government  leaders have to stoop so low that the "taxpayers" have to pay someone to try to keep them from commiting murder. That.'s like having to pay your child $!0.00 every morning to brush his or her teeth. I wish everyone could see the picture of a group of people that I saw that they are willing to offer the bebefits of this program. They were tatooed from head to toe and were the most vile looking group you could imagine. Maybe one day I can get one of my grandxhildren to show me how to cut and paste pictures,

I must have slept through my history class when Neville Chamberlain was the topic of discussion. However, a quick review on Google gave me all the information I needed. Chamberlain's appeasement of Hitler which was instrumental in the start of World War II was used in comparing Obama's appeasement to Iran regarding the Nuclear Proliferation Treaty. Your example of a "hanging" is a good point to draw attention to negative results that can occur when "appeasement" is carried to extremes.There are times when good "leadership" requires a little "backbone" which on several occasions during Obama's eight years was demonstrated  by a "yellow" streak. Our government, both federal and state, has failed miserably in confronting the "immigration" problem for over twelve years. The approach has always resulted in "kicking the can down the road". Finally the American people realized that America needed a President with a little "backbone".

It's called The Last Lion and is a three volume set.  He was a fascinating, complex man who was the right leader at the right time in history.  Another interesting source about Churchill is Hillsdale College.  They do a lot of research on him and have some fascinating talks on video that are free to access.
