I seem to remember some discussion of this topic last season but would like refresh the discussion prior to the water level comming up.

It seems that no matter how much time and effort i spend on pulling them during the summer, they always come back with a vengence.  I was goiung to spray them with Roundup this winter when the water receeded but the b*stards dont have any leaves.  Would it do me any good to use a garden hoe and simply dig them up while they still apear to be dorment?  Should I spray them with some "wonder spray" before the water returns and if so what?

These things are worse than the squirls on my bird feeder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only way I have found to get rid of them is to dig them up with a shovel.  Dig deep to get rid of the roots.  If you use a hoe, you can't get deep enough for all the root and they will multiply in the spring.  Will probably take you a couple of years to eliminate them but it can be done.

I would not use roundup due to the recent furor about that product getting into rivers and streams.   The environmental police may well contact you if not apc.

Good luck.

Guess our old standby formula on the ranch of 50% diesel 50% used 30W would be less than acceptable too.   Sure kept our fence rows clean though.

I think chemicals are pretty much out.  I just learned to live with them.  I'm not strong enough to dig them out and I can't find anyone crazy enough to take the job on.  The ones up close to my seawall, I have the lawn guide string trim the tops off
