These disrepectful kids are what we collectively raised.  Got to give Rubio props.  He gave just enough.

I just read about a junior ROTC kid who was invited and asked to write a short speech and questions. He did as he was asked, prepped for the event, got dressed up and showed up. Only when he got there they had no interest in his thoughts and opinions and instead handed him a scripted speech and questions to ask. Proving once again that the gun grabbers are using these kids for their own ends. Personally I don't give a rats ass what kids think about adult issues, like who can carry what, where. For the most part their heads are full of mush and years of leftist propaganda spoon fed to them by "teachers".

I noticed too, that their comments were scripted.  Most of the were working off their phones.   It was pretty clear that some of them have no idea who does what - people were asking the NRA rep about Constitutional inconsistencies.  What I took away from it all was "I DEMAND you do what I want, even if it means stomping on someone else's Constitutional rights.

These kids are going to really be disappointed when the media leaves to go pursue the next big story.  No one will give a rats butt what they want, what they think.  Understand they got their first taste of disappointment when they got to the Florida capital and no one capitulated to their demands.

I didn't watch it because I knew it would be a scripted event.  Apparently cnnBS fed questions to the kids.  Many of them will one day look back on this and realize how they are being used by the so-called adults with a political agenda.  Make no mistake, this is about one thing and one thing only. The mid-term elections and the desire of Democrats to impeach Trump.  That they will use traumatized kids as props is not even remotely surprising.  They will never let a good crisis go to waste.

I did read a bit about Rubio and it took some cajones for him to show up.  What he doesn't realize is that no one in that audience or watching, what few there were, will ever vote for him or will ever be swayed by facts. logic or reason.  They are driven by pure emotion which is impervious to the preceding.  We went through the same gyrations after Sandy Hook.  And maybe some good will come out of it relatvie to mental health issues.  But somehow I doubt it.

This morning, LaPierre gave a speech, warning against socialism and the eroding of rights.  I tend to think of him as an extremeist, but I figure we need some extremeists on the right to counter the extremists on the Left and maintain balance.

I find it interesting that the focus is 100% on guns - background checks, ARs, age, etc and no one is even willing to consider anything else.  I've read two good articles recently about the effects of psychiatric medications on individuals that coud case extreme acts of aggression.  Becasue really what it all comes down to is mental health, because sane gun owners don't go into places and shoot the place up.  They don't kill other people.  To hear the anti-gun lobby tell it, by virtue of my owning an AR, I am compelled to take it and kill someone or shoot something up, which we all know is crazy.  The gun doesn't shoot itself, and in the hands of a normal person, no one is hurt by one.  As a friend of mine said - if they had put a wood stock on it, it wouldn't be called an assault rifle.

I personally don't have a problem with raising the age to 21 to buy one, although I think the NRA makes sense in saying that if you are old enough to go to war and old enough to vote that it makes no sense to raise the purchasing age.  I don't have a problem with making extended magazines harder to get.  Everyone talks about the gunshow loophole, but I honestly don't know how anhyone will ever close it.  You can make it illegal to transfer a gun person to person, but then murder is illegal but it still happens every day.  I think what is key will be getting arrest and mental health records into the back ground check, and I don't have a problem losing a bit of privacy for that purpose.

One last amusing note - that police chief in Florida came off like a real ass last night, acting like he knows the answer to everything, and talking down to the NRA rep who happened to be a woman.

Had to say that I thought Rubio did a creditable job - when asked point blank if he would continue to take campaign money from the NRA, he did not take the pledge.  And he didn't flinch or go limp when accusations were hurled on him.

Here's an interestng thought exercise.  Go and look at all the mass shootings in the U.S. and check the age of the perp.  It is an eye opener.  Then look at how many occurred with a rifle like the AR-15.  The number gets even smaller.  If they want to change the age to 21 let them have at it but it won't change a thing.  This deranged nutjob in Florida would have done exaclt the same damage with a semi-automatic pistol.  And if he wanted to use an SR-15 for some reason he will have no problem getting one illegally.  Anyone who doesn't get that is a fool.

As for the NRA, when you have a group of students that just went through this trauma chanting "burn her, burn her" you know they can't have a civil discussion on the merits.  Their hypocrisy is out there for all to see.  They apparently feel justified in calling for her to be burned to death without realizing that makes them no different than the shooter except he was crazy enough to act on his hatred.

That's what I mean about teenage angst and emotions.  And they are going to be devastated when the media moves on.

I expect to see some changes made, but at the end of the day, they won't make a damn bit of difference.  Rational people know this.
