"By all accounts, Veteran Affairs Secretary David Shulkin probably should have been fired at least a month ago, right around the time it came to light that he made up an award to justify taking his wife on a taxpayer-funded European vacation, during which he directed an aide to act as the couple’s “personal travel concierge.” 

This being the Trump administration, though, such transgressions do not automatically result in dismissal, and can occasionally even improve one’s standing with the boss!"

Your  ignorance is astounding.  Shulkin was appointed as Deputy Dir of VA by o-BAMMIE in 2015.  Trump made the obvious mistake of trusting an o-BAMMIE appointee to do a big job, but found out the hard way he was a thief just like all dimokraps.  Read boy, stop watching msm.

He was a holdover from Obama but not in the position as HEAD of the VA that Trump appionted him to. Now, we are faced again wiht an Obama holdover being appointed to head the VA. Trump's doc was also the doc for the Obama family. I feel sorry for him taking a job with no managerial experience. I truly wish him the best.

I wish him well also.  $200 billion budget and over 300,000 employees.  The good doctor is an admiral in the Navy but I don't think he has the executive experience that is sorely needed at the VA.  But you never know.  Some people rise to the occasion and he may be one of those.  More likely he will be driven batty by the VA bureaurcacy that realize the Directors come and go but they will always be there protected by Civil Service and unions.

problem for any VA manager is very simple....you can't fire the worthless slugs in VA hospitals.  Those slugs have even gotten the VFW, DAV, etc. volunteer groups to back them to perpetuate the useless bureaucracy.  Goof-KRAP, you is what ya is.....
