the answer to the question if Trump could ever get any praise from the media.  NO.  He had an historic meeting with Kim Jong Un, and the media criticizes him becasue he didn't get a well defined time table for the denuclearization of the Korean Pennisula.  You know if Obama had the same meeting, the media would praise him to the skies.  The fact that Trump is the first U.S. President to even meet with the North Korean dictator is by passed in favor of discussions how Kim bested Trump.

Trump has SUSPENDED exercises with South Korea, yet one several articles suggested that he has given into North Korea and abandoned military exercises.  To me, suspended suggests a temporary situation, depnding on an outcome, vice giving them up completely.

No doubt in my mind that if Trump were to achieve perfect world peace, the media would find something negative in it.   He has also served notice to the "allies" that the U.S. won't be taken advatage of any longer, but John McCain and the media apologizes to the "allies" for acting in our own self interests, just like those other countries do.  I can't think of many times when the Europeans, in particular, actually did something to support U.S. interests over their own.

Though this is not the joke dept. it seems fitting for your comment. Trump and the Pope went for a boat ride and the Popes hat blew off. Trump got out of the boat and walked back to retrieve the hat. The next day CNN was making fun of Trump for not being able to swim.

It's not just the media that are suffering from TDS.  The Never Trumpsters are in full rage.  Two main takeaways from the meeting for me.  First, he is not reducing the sanctions on th Norks until they denuke.  To me that is key.  Second, he has said that 6 months from now he may have to admit to the American people that the Norks didn't comply.  I don't think he is under any illusions about Kim Jong Mentally Un.  I heard Tom Cotton (Sen from ARK) this morning and he admitted that while it's distasteful to give Un the kind of reception he got but what makes it different is that he has nukes.  We can thank Bill Clinton for that.

My view is I find it highly unlikely that Un will agree to the inspection regime that would truly allow us to verify they have denuked.  I hope I am wrong but if I am right then Trump better follow through with what he has said that would mean.  No verification, no deal, and we are back to square one.  And I completely agree that his decision to suspend the exercises can easily be changed.  They can do all the planning for the exercises and all he has to do is put them back on the calendar.  They aren't suppsoed to happen until the spring of 2019 anyway.  We will know if the Norks are serious well before then.

Now the devil will be in the details.  But if Trump pulls this off (which to me seems highly unlikely although well worth the attempt) I can assure you there is still no way he would get the Nobel Peace prize.  I mean, look at how mean he is to our trading partners that have been paying for their socialism on the backs of American taxpayers.  This crap has to stop, especially since in 25 years Europe will be Muslim controlled.

I rather doubt that Kim will denuke and agree to rigorous inspections too.  But I think that they met at all, after all the posturing, is an accomplishment that no one expected.  In Washington parlance - we have opened a dialogue.    I think if people could stop putting it in "win or lose" language, they would see that this is just a first step.  Nothing may come of it. We know that Kim wants to be seen as a player on the big international stage; the question is what is he willing to give up to get there.  He wants reunificaiton of Korea, if for no other reason than to piggy back on the success of South Korea.

I tried to watch the video with Dennis Rodman, but I could not get past all the metal in his face.

very little except we have apparently agreed to remove our own nukes from the Korean Peninsula if Kim agrees to destroy his and that the suspension of joint miliitary drills was done without South Korea's knowledge.  We also know that on 3 past occasions in the Clinton, Bush and Obama administrations NK has made the same pledge.

So, don't plan your tour of the Hermit Kingdom just yet Hound.

US has nukes in South Korea???  Read: http://foreignpolicy.com/2017/10/11/putting-u-s-nukes-back-in-south-korea-is-a-terrible-idea/

US doesn't need nukes in SK......the closest submarine, or a silo in Iowa is plenty close!  Back under your bed.

Finally I have found something that Obama did right.  Him ignoring this nut job was exactly the right thing to do.
