Good post and a great sentiment Rich...see if you can talk Wix and Phil into embracing it.  Sorry, but for me, my family, and most of my friends, neighbors and clients and for millions of our fellow citizens this is a sad Independence Day, an Independence Day when so many Americans now ascribe to a personality cult that equates patriotism with support of one man and his agenda.  It is an attitude made obvious by many who post on this forum with often vile comments about anybody who dares to question Donald Trump and his agenda (see the post that started this thread, see almost any post by Wix, Phil, MM and a dozen others).  I am sorry and hate to say it, but at the moment I am truly concerned for our nation's future because I sincerly feel that the ideals of the Declaration and the Constitution are under attack from the very people who purport to hold them sacred. 

On this Independence Day I am very proud to be an American but, for the moment, I am not proud of America.

It's a shame we couldn't pull together for One Day. I don't understand how you can not be proud of your country that lets you voice your opinon without incarceration or worse. Many place on this earth that the people in the resist movement would be locked away and not heard from again. I for one will always defend anyones right to make and ass of themselves.

Sadly, I doubt most Americans can put aside politics for a day to celebrate the enduring greatness of our country.  I saw an article that said that only 47% are very proud of their country.  I'd like to vote that we stay, and the other 53% be traded for Hispanics that want to come to this country to pursue the American dream.  

I really don't think people give much thought to the Declaration of Independence and what it meant, and how brave those that signed it were.

Indeed it is sad we cannot put aside politics for a single day as demonstrated by the post that started this thread, Hound's comment on what should happen to the 53% who for the moment are not very proud to be Americans and on an hourly basis by Donald Trump.  I too am proud of the fact that in America we can still express differing opinions.  I am not proud of the fact that the president of the United States, and some of his strongest supporters, on a regular basis demonstrate that they do not respect that privilege and would perhaps take it away if they could do so.   I know I am annoying most of you but I beg everyone who says nonsense to my fear to to pay more attention to what he is saying in his tweets and rallies and the reaction from his supporters.  Just listen to the ''highlights'' of his MT speech last night!  I hope it is only BS from the champion BS'ter, but the response of the crowds listening to him is even more frightening than his expressed agenda! We can agree to disagree on his agenda but my concern is WHY do the more patriotic, decent and reasonable among you who support his agenda not make it clear to him that his vilest words are out of order and demand that he be a decent human being!

The interesting truth that liberal idiots like ARCH-COMMIE refuse to accept is,  Trump is not changing America, the American people are changing Trump.  Trump now understands what Americans demand....note I said Americans, not illegals, welfare slugs, young communists, or various special interest minorities.  Finally Americans are being heard, and the result is wonderful.  Wonder why Trump's crowds fill every arena, while dimokraps like Maxinebitch, HILDAbitch, Berneycommie, and Peelosi can't fill a closet.  AMERICANS ARE FINALLY BEING HEARD!!

Um, the part about trading those who are not proud of our country - that was said tongue in cheek.  But there are more than a few members of Congress that I wouldn't mind seeing traded.  Starting with Maxine and that other woman from Florida that wears the hats.  Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi.
