As we were headed home after the fireworks, a large and new pontoon boat cruised right up to us, and the occupants berated us because (they said) our boat was "hard to see." While our boat might be small by some standards (18 feet) it DOES have a complete set of running lights, and I had all of the required lights on: navigation lights, anchor light, and instrument lights. I said "I have on every light I'm required to have, which is every light on the boat." Was that enough, or should I have added:

A. "You can't see me because you have on your cool blue LED strips, your docking lights, your interior courtesy lights and pretty much every other light on that boat, so you have effectively rendered yourself night-blind."

B. "You can't see me because you are blind drunk; I can tell by the way you are talking, and the fact that I can smell the alcohol on your breath from way over here."

C. "You only think you can't see me; check this out!" as I shine a high-powered hand-held spotlight at his face.

D. Both A and B

E. Both A and C

F. Both B and C

G. A, B and C

This has happened to us also. It is why we view from a distance and then slip away when the finale starts. This is the part of the licenses test that is missing. Ok that is what my wife wanted to answer.  My answer would be All OF THE ABOVE plus a visual effect.

Is this the next thing - Boat Rage?  We see so much discourtesy on the water these days - maybe the guy believed that a good offense is a good defense.  If he accuses you of not being seen, he effectively tries to make it seem like your fault if he hits you.

From the time we moved here, 10 years ago, everyone has said to stay away from the fireworks, because people go a bit nuts when it is over and it becomes a free for all of boat traffic.

I was lucky enough to be on this lake 50 yrs. Yes many of those years were in a family cabin and my parents cabin.  When i was financially able to purchase my own i enjoyed 16 yrs on this beautiful lake martin. Then thing began to change the full timers started moving due to economy and local industry closing. Homes became weekend cabins or rental units. People slid in fri and scream out sunday while in the meantime the music blares and the waves crash, and why not we don't live here we party here that is their thoughts. Say what you want about my post but i "Remember When" People were courtious. nicer. caring. and not so "APPEARANCE DRIVEN" (ARROGANT POMPASS A$$).   I REMEMBER WHEN

Ask him when the llast time he had his eyes checked. Probably had on sunglasses too.

I'd probably told him that my boat had just been custom outfitted with camouflaged trimming and thanked him for the report that it was effectively working.

We were nowhere near Kowaliga - in the near empty Cooper's slough and close to land. I had "too close of a call for my comfort" experience, too. It's got me thinking, I ordered some LED's that I can temporarily sunction on to the side of the boat and turn them on when I am stopped and someone is coming in my vicinity. I can tell you, even though my boat was properly lighted, I didn't feel any better once they beared down on me. I cranked up and moved out of their way.
