The reality is they are feeding red meat to the #resist base.  Their greatest fear is not losing an election, it is getting primaried by a socialist like we saw in NY with the vapid 28-year old socialist defeating a high ranking member of the House.  You get primaried by your base as we saw on the GOP side with Cantor. 

The problem for them is that the socialism thing only appeals to a small percentage of the electorate and can only be openly discussed in very safe Democrat districts.  So far in the Senate only crazy Bernie has managed to survive as an avowed socialist.  Maybe could work in California but not so much anywhere else, at least not yet.  As millennials get out in the work world and see what it's really like their professed respect for socialism will wane.  If we got rid of withholding and everyone had to make quarterly tax payments it would disappear altogether.

There aren't any, because they spend all their time blocking what Trump is trying to do.  And look at the Democratic "leaders" - what have any of them accomplished, not just under Trump, but even under Obama.  They have moved to the extreme of their Party, to the point they no longer represent even the mainstream of their base.  All of their "proposals" sound good, until you start thinking about who and how they will be paid for.  Is this really the point in which you want to cut defense spending???
