one of my good friends growing up son is running against IVEY as a Dem--name is Walt Maddox, current  mayor of Tuscaloosa); many in that region have told me he is a solid, progressive, take charge guy--anyone have any opinions? i have never met him or heard him speak--evidently not campaigning in this area so far

Compared to Ivey he is head and shoulders above her.  If you want the same old corruption and settling for 49th and 50th, then vote for Ivey.  If you want new ideas and a desire for Alabama to excel then Walt is your man.  Usually I vote republican but I like my Governor to be at least half way alive.  I will be voting for Walt.

I've got a suggestion; Off-Topic Forum.

Like a wakeboat blasting my pier, I'd rather be able to enjoy lake topics without what will undoubtedly become a political thread blowing up the peace and quiet.

Fair enough.  What do you think the Governor thinks about the water wars with Georgia and how her ADEM rules on pollution in the tallapoosa river?  LakeMartin used to be the cleanest lake in Alabama.  Why have there been warnings about eating fish in the Tallapoosa River?

Or how about the donations from the utilities to each campaign?  I for one worry about Lake Martin and how the state government cares not about the quality of the water and how it will care by the two campaign.

Prior to the Trump era I would have certainly looked hard at Kay’s opponent but the behavior of the Dems have turned me against any candidate that runs as a Democrat.

F1Fan tried to ask politely.  There are plenty of political forums available for you retirees to waste your time on.  Better yet, get another hobby.
