The best states to start a new business based on the general business environment includung access to resources including financing, level and quality of education, incentives available to businesses, cost of doing business, taxes, etc.

Interesting results including:

no 1...Texas, of course

no 2...Utah, no surprise here

no 3...GEORGIA

no 6...Florida

no 8...that horrible anti-business pro-tax Socialist Republic of California!

no 41...the glorious and politically enlightened state of ALABAMA!

Have you ever had anything good to say about anything or anybody? It seems your sole purpose in life is to find something negative so that you can stir up controversy. Sure, you had to post because your digging found something where Georgia was rated Number 3 and you live in Allanta and you wanted to take a "slap" at Alabama. You can be sure that I am not a "deplorable" who is going to invade your Atlanta "safe place".

Kinda pathetic how you reach for straws. Pretty sure most of the posters that will see your attempt at a “gotcha” moment are as happy as a pig in mud with their residence on the south’s most beautiful lake. Nothing that you can post will change that. And by the way if you think Alabama is such a loser state you can stay in Georgia. Have a nice day.

One might ask whether you care anything about the truth or about anybody or anything that is not in lockstep support with your opinions.  I love my wife and my daughter and granddaughter, I love life and I love America!  I hate Donald Trump because of what I truly feel he is doing to America!!  I love Atlanta and Georgia even though I am often embarrassed and disappointed by each.  As for Alabama, I couldn't care less one way or the other.  In the final analysis Alabama will get what Alabama deserves.

Archie,

If I were to list the following states:  Connecticut, New Jersey Pennsylvania, Hawaii, would you say they lie ahead or behind Alabama in the July Best Start-up business friendly states Wallethub poll?  Ans:  Behind, imagine that, all Blue States and proud of it.

Although they get points for having the highest educated population, they pay for it with the highest labor cost.  Alabama has the 4th lowest labor cost and is the 9th best state for state and local income taxes.  Although I too reside in Georgia, have done so for the past 32 years, I do not share your criticism of Alabama.  I believe Alabama is a gold mine waiting to be tapped.  Birmingham needs to follow the lead of Austin, Texas in order to take advantage of the fact that it is a hub to a major medical institution, expand more into the suburbs in order to offer the one time urban clubbers an affordable lifestyle option when their clubbing days are over, and utilize to a greater extent its airport.  Montgomery needs to take better advantage of its luck of the draw in being a state capital.  Tuscaloosa, as a major college town, needs to keep an eye on Athens, GA, Durham-Chapel Hill NC and College Station TX to see how these towns have rendered themselves recession proof.  Huntsville must try to gain a foothold somewhere in the new Space Force discussion.

So, as I am sure the poll generated many "clicks", I have problems with the methodology utilized in reaching their conclusions.

As to whether CN, PA, NJ, HI are ahead or behind AL so what.  They are blue but MS, AL, KY and LA are ruby red and none of them are shining stars.

As for AL being an untapped land of opportunity...well when is it going to be tapped?  Its been 70 years since GA and AL and Atlanta and B'ham were population and economic equals.  What is AL waiting for?  Maybe AL will show more promise when they stop running Roy Moores for office!

If getting "tapped" generates a city such as Atlanta, which had potential decades ago to become a truly great city, but continues to suffer from horrific leadership,  then I would rather stay untapped for the time being.  Who Alabama ran for a Senate seat really has very little to do with creating an optimal environment for statewide growth and expansion.

I agree I would rather stay untapped in Alabama vs being tapped like Atlanta.
