Why don't Gov. Brown look for some way to utilize the help of all the "illegal" immiigrants that he has allowed in to California? Surely there must be something they can do besides hide in  "sanctuary cities" and showing up for Democrats on election day.

Okay, I know this is really bad - but I can't help but wonder if God is sending all those liberals a message.

Hound, that is sick. 25 dead and 6,700 homes damaged or lost. I am really surprised how you have changed as a supporter of Trump.

By the way, Butte County CA where Paradise is located voted for the Republican candidate for Governor 54% to 46%. I'll leave to you how you interpret these numbers.

Gee, I remember the old days when you were the Forum censor.

With the total disaray and division in our country today, I don't think it is fair to always jump to hasty conclusions when someone reacts to certain situations. As a Nation, we are being subjected to pressures that are being brought on by "forces designed" to turn brother against brother. The attempts being made to destroy and separate us from the meaning of the "Constitution" as our "forefathers" sought to instill in the name of "Democracy" are, and I will use your words, "SICK". And in my " opinion", I think you and Architect are "contributing" to this effort.

I don't believe I have ever been so tacky and crass as to surmize a disaster is God's punishment for an areas politics.  I wonder to what Hound would attribute Hurricane Michael's terrible destruction on the rightwing bastions of the Florida panhandle?

Now as for your comments Buteye...if you do not think Donald J. Trump by his words, actions and deeds is a prime contributor (perhaps THE prime contributor) to the divisions in this nation today you are either Crazy, stupid, too biased to see the truth, or simply not paying attention!!

You are so obsessed with the fact that President Trump has had monumental success during the first two years of his presidency that you can't utter a complete sentence unless it includes the "word" Trump. You have become totally immersed in TDS. Since  you are so good with words I will return the favor: "you are either Crazy, stupid, too biased to see the truth, or not paying attention"!!!!! It would be nice to know what kind of "blood presssure medicine" your Doctor has prescribed because it must be mighty "powerful".

I am pleased you think Trump is a roaring political success, the great unifier of the nation, in every way a gentleman, a sterling example of humanity, and a role model for your children and grandchildren.  Fine, but the fact is most of America strongly disagrees with you.

My view is that this is what the Federal govt is actually for as opposed to the billions they waste on other things.  As for Gov Moonbeam, he is right to ask for help.....probably the only thing he has done right in a long while.  Part of the problem with these wildfires is the lack of management of the forests.  We used to clear underbrush but they stopped doing that and it not only feeds the fire but speeds up its propogation.  Terrible thing resulting from a campfire.

I have wondered if they could do controlled burns in their type of woods.  Destroy the fuels on ground

Do not remember the years but Talladega National Forrest went through a lot of years where they put out every fire quickly and allowed brush to build up.  Undergrowth choked out lots of areas and when the next burn happened they could not stop it and there was so much fuel that it killed lots of the old growth that would have survived had it been allowed.

They are back to letting some fires burn and set some controlled fires when they need to, works much better.

That's a problem for you and the rest of his non-supporters.  We keep winning.

I know we  can here with our trees. Can they do same?  If so then absolutely mismanagement to let the fuel develop.  Leads to major fires,  but wait that's what they got

Controlled burns for sure as well as clearing underbrush on either side of roads to create fire breaks that reduce the potential for the fire to grow.  Not sure what happens in California but I am guessing they are not very proactive in preventing fires from spreading.

I knew GF and Architect would jump on my saying this.  So predictable.

But some idiots will rebuild their houses and then it will happen all over again.  I am just as horrified by the loss of life and the lives of so many animals as the next person.  I can't really think of a worse situation than to be confronted and consumed by fire.

You would think if controlled burns was the answer, they would have adopted it by now.  No one can be that stupid, can they?  I suspect it is not the answer because they seem to have acres of brush and not as many established forests when these fires happen.

But, if I let my mind wander and give full rein to my thoughts, perhaps there is a message being sent - not a political message - but a spiritual message that we not hearing?  I sincerely doubt as help arrives from all over the west, fireman are refusing to fight along side of someone that doesn't have the same political leanings as the next.  Yet put them in a non-emergency situtation and would it still be the same?

The Feds own or control 57% of California forest. Trump's Interior Sec Zinke needs to do better forest management. Zinke is under ehtics review and is too busy with enriching himself than worrying about forest management. A sorry bunch in Trump's swamp.

Of the approximately 33 million acres of forest in California, federal agencies (including the USDA Forest Service and USDI Bureau of Land Management and National Park Service) own and manage 19 million acres (57%).

40% of California's forestland is owned by families, Native American tribes, or companies. Industrial timber companies own 5 million acres (14%). 9 million acres are owned by individuals  with nearly 90% of these owners having less than 50 acres of forest land.

State and local agencies including CalFire, local open space, park and water districts and land trusts own another 3%.

Trump has been President for 2 years, Obama was there for eight.  Goofy, you are truly mentally ill.

One of the reasons for CAL-IDIOTs banning controlled burns is landslides when the worthless land does get a inch of rain.  I remember watching homes slide into ravines a year or two after fires destroy the useless undergrowth.  California ain’t no paradise......

Just a speed bump Archie, we got what we wanted:  Rid ourselves of Never Trumper/Rinos with Dem control of House temporarily while we assemble a new slate of real candidates for 2020.  I have confidence that you all will allow your TDS to ruin any chance for success this term.
