The ''Caravan'' is heading to San Diago and are only 1200 miles away but Dear Leaders Pretorian Guard is eating MREs and upset about missing Thanksgiving near McAllen,TX.  They are almost as far from San Diago as the ''enemy''!  What the he!!...Didn't Trump give them a map?

I’m sorry… say again about the Praetorian Guard.  Do you know who they were?  Do you know with what they were charged?  Did you intentionally use a dogberryism ?

Have YOU ever been given an MRE in the field?  Do you even know what is an MRE?

I’m concerned… you must be connecting the wrong dots.

Please don’t get overwrought.  It’s tough to get the complete information into the allotted 30 seconds.

The Pretorian Guard were the elite Roman troops that personally guarded the Emperor.  Some us believe that is exactly what Trump considers the U.S. military today to the disgust of the military.  He likewise seems to expect the DoJ to be his personal lawyers!

MRE = Meals Ready to Eat.  Never had one but I am told by some who have had them they are not as bad as they sound.  Still, I doubt very many soldiers fulfilling their sworn duty sitting in the heat of South TX doing busy work would consider an MRE preferable to turkey with all the fixins with the family Thursday week!

Please explain...What is a "dogberryism"?

Yes… I have had MANY “Meals-Ready-to-Eat.”  And K-RATs… and even some (found in a back room) C-RATs.

…and, I have had turkey in a far away land… and, felt privileged to have it.

I wasn’t Obama’s “Praetorian Guard” any more than I was Johnson’s, or Nixon’s, or Clinton’s, or either of the Bushs’ (each was my “Commander-in-Chief” at the time).  The Secret Service is the President’s “Praetorian Guard.”

From your comments, I deduct that YOU don’t understand military service.  We do not (did not) serve at our own leisure. We served our country on the direction of our Commander-in-Chief.  We do not (did not) make the politics leading to our posting and obligations.

If the President says, “Go to the border and support my Border Patrol”, I do that.  I don’t quibble… I am neither Democrat nor Republican.  My Nation needs me… my commander (and his commanders) tell me what to do.  I tell my subordinates what to do. (We) they DO IT!  We NEVER ask our commander if it is “busy work.”  I have NEVER been asked by my platoon leaders… 1SG… NCOs… if we were doing “busy work.”

The military is not a debate society.  We are not a committee.  We are the tip of the spear.  And YOU, dear Archie are the ass end of it.  In the long string of things, YOUR military is doing what millions of YOU Archies collectively desire.  You are the push… we are the bloody result of your push.

If Trump (re) called my tired ass to the border… I would not hesitate.

When it comes to military issues… unless you have walked the walk…

Nicely put but the way I read it (I'm sure it was not your intention) you are making my point.  Trump is the Commander in Chief and he can abuse that power as can any president can.  The past presidents you referenced all may have ''mis-used'' their power to ''command'' our military but none of them, in my opinion, ''abused'' that power.  I think a pretty good case can be made that this president is doing exactly that.  This deployment of troops to a manufactured crisis on the border was pure and shameful politics played days before an election where Trump was trying to avoid a drubbing.  Thankfully, for the most part, it failed!  Three weeks ago Trump was tweeting almost hourly and FOX was 24/7 shouting about this ''invasion'' of ''disease ridden hardend criminals'' infiltrated with ''middle eastern'' terrorists!  Since the election Trump has tweeted about the caravan exactly one time and it has all but dropped off the radar on FOX!

The president IS the Commander in Chief.  He may are may not be worthy and qualified to assume the title.

PS:  No major I have never served in the military, sort of like Donald J. Trump!

https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/clinton-orders-air-attack-on-iraq

Clinton’s decision did not have the support of key members of Congress, who accused Clinton of using the air strikes to direct attention away from ongoing impeachment proceedings against him. Just the day before, the House of Representatives had issued a report accusing Clinton of committing “high crimes and misdemeanors” related to the Monica Lewinsky scandal, in which Clinton had–and then lied about–an illicit sexual liaison with an intern in the Oval Office.

As a side note on the "heat in Texas" there was snow

I do not think they will mind the temps that much, some may even have to add a layer.  But if the people I know in the military are any indication 50s-60s they would prefer shorts and t-shirts.

Just a few points regarding your comments throughout this back and forth scenario. First, you raise a lot of questions about a subject I don't think you have personally experienced, i.e. serving in the military. I made the Air Force a career and I am proud of my service. I don't need an outsider like you offering your two cents worth of advice. When I joined the Air Force I don't recall being told that I would be at home with my family during holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas and other "special" times. On numerous holidays I was on 24 hour duty underground in a missile silo in New Mexico or on 24 hour alert duty fulfilling my duty as an "alert duty officer" with my German counterpart guarding F-104's in support of our NATO mission.                                                                                                                                                                                                             While you might look at serving three years in Germany as a wonderful opportunity to see the world, my family and I experienced  three years missing out on the kinds of activities that you have been able to experience on a daily basis. My first son was a year old when we left for Germany and my second son was born three months before we returned to the United States. Unless you experience it, you cannot appreciate what it was like to have spent three years of your life without your parents, grandparents, friends, and others. The fact that grandparentsI didn't get to see their grandchildren for three years was a diificult time. I would consider those three years to be the "hardest" period that my family has had to endure during our lifetime. With this being said, you are "crying" about our military on the border suffering the weather conditions and missing "Thanksgiving" dinners. MAJOR USAF RET provided you with a good introduction into what is expected of those who serve in the military.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Your charge that President Trump has "manufactured" a crisis on the border is just further evidence of the "extent" you will go to use any and every conceivable method possible to thwart his efforts to support the "will" of the people of this great United States. How can you equate the fact that hundreds of buses, eighteen wheelers, and every other means of transportation available are being used to support and transport this "manufactured invasion"? Please view the new video filmed by Ami Harowitz as he mixes with the "Caravan" to show the "true idenity" of the Caravan, unlike what the "whole world" has been seeing from the "fake news media". Go to DailyCaller.com or click on Ami Horowitz to view this video. According to Horowitz the Caravan has been well "organized' and is costing millions and millions of dollars. He said that one of the lies the "fake" media is trying to propagate is the "fact" that all this weird organic thing and all the water and all the food and medicine, all dropped from........... manna from heaven. It's all balogna! It's all highly organized. It's paid for by a number of organizations, we don't know exactly where the money is coming from. When asked why haven't "other" news organizations gotten to the bottom of this, he responded,  "you know the anser to that. They don't want to get to the bottom of this. They have "no" interest politically in getting to the bottom of it. When you view photos from all the major news organizations, what do you see? The entire "framing" are women and children when the "reality" is so for from the truth, 90-95 percent of the people in the Caravan are "men".                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       The "news media" refers this movement to the border as the "Caravan Conspiracy Theory". What can be done to preclude the media from "intentionally" lying to the American people? I undestand the guarantee of "free speech" by the Constitution, and the entitlement of people to express their "own" opinions, but when there is a wide group of "individuals" and "news" organizations that "spew" lies across the country that can have an affect of influencing anyone's personall views on a particular subject, I think that is unacceptable and reflects on anyone's patriotism as an American citizen. As an example, I cite President Obama saying, "if you "have" a Doctor, you can "keep" your Doctor" fits this situation to a T. Would you agree  that "lie" by President Obama affected the personal views of "millions" of people?

Thank you and all who served and to all currently serving.  You make some very good points even if in a snarky condescending manner.  I do take major issue with one comment...Trump is NOT carrying out the ''will of the people'' in anything he does including this so called crisis on the border!  Remember this, based on the vote of the citizens, Hillary Clinton (not a pleasant thought to be sure) would be in that position.  Trump was ''selected'' not elected!

I know that will never be recognized by the Trumpistas, but it is a fact that 54.1% of the citizens preferred someone else and based upon Nov 6, a case could be made that number would be much higher if the vote were today!!  All Trumpistas who ignore or forget this fact do so at their own political peril!!

Thanks to the genius of the framers in setting up the wonderful Electoral College. The same system that has "selected" presidents for some 230 years now.

Thanks for acknowledgeing my service. Your comment about my snarky condescending manner is brought on in part by the same type of response usually contained in you posts. Did you find time to watch the video produced by Ami Horowitz? If not, I encourage you to watch it and I would like to hear your thoughts. How do you think the Caravan could exist without someone instigating it and providing food, medicine, transportation, and other support? A Caravan of 7 to 10 thousand people doesn't just happen overnight without the help of those who support illegal immigration and are a part of a well organized "machine" with unlimited "financial" backing. If you lived on the Texas or California border, would you feel "safe" as hundreds or maybe thousands of illegals storm the border?

Of course he would feel safe. After all his neighbor, who happens to be black, has never threatened or intimidated him.

I would feel safer if the troops were in San Diago where the ''caravan'' is headed instead of 1200 miles away in east Texas.  I think Dear Leader was more concerned about Beto's threat toTed Cruz than the ''caravan's'' threat to America.  It worked...barely.

Now, do you honestly think the ''caravan'' (now closer to 4000 people) is going to ''storm'' the border?  Do you remember the similar, if smaller (1500), ''caravan'' a couple of years ago? A grand total of 12 people entered the country!!

Do you still claim Trump is carrying out the ''will of the people'' even though the majority of the people preferred he not be in the Oval Office?  Today, the reality is he is carrying out the will of 35% to 40% of the people max!

Are you trying to say that in your mind "reality" is that 60 to 65 percent of the people want 7000 t0 10000 illegal immigrants to storm the border?

Name:   architect - Email Member
Subject:   Architect
Date:   11/19/2018 8:24:18 AM (updated 11/19/2018 8:25:58 AM)

No, 60 to 65% of the people have enough common sense and recognition of ''reality'' to know that no ''storming of the border'' is going to happen with or without Trump's phony war against it.  Only the most gullible (including most of this forum who should be smart* enough to see political manipulation for what it is) think this is armageddon.

*Any comment on the ''fact'' that 57% of the people with college degrees voted Democratic on Nov 6 and while 71% of the white high school drop outs voted GOP?  Obviously this forum is an outlier on the former!
