Former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer said Thursday on "America's Newsroom" that it was "stunning" to see first lady Melania Trump call for the removal of a top White House official.

Deputy national security adviser Mira Ricardel left the White HouseWednesday, one day after Mrs. Trump's office took the extraordinary step of issuing a statement that called for her dismissal.

"It is the position of the Office of the First Lady that she no longer deserves the honor of serving in this White House," Stephanie Grisham, the first lady's spokeswoman, said in a statement.

Ricardel, who reportedly clashed with Mrs. Trump on a recent visit to Africa, was then reassigned within the administration.
