Has anyone used an antenna on the Dadeville side to get local channels?  If so is it a rooftop antenna? I have tried the indoor antennas with no sucess.  TIA

There are some websites that you can use to see if it will work.  i have checked them all and even with a 50-foot tower the signal is too weak.

A lot depends upon your location with respect to Smith's Mountain, other possible obstructions, etc....also would need to be either mounted on rotor or able to rotate by hand...amplifier (pre-amp) mounted at the antenna is important...location notwithstanding, ch. 12 and 20 are fairly easy to get while 8 and 32 more difficult.  In either case , important to go to websites mentioned by MartinMan (google tv antenna reception)...

Thanks all.  I have checked that website and I am not looking good for reception at my address. Happy Thanksgiving.

Im not a full time resident so its not a big deal to me, but dadeville is a big enough town that they should be able to get all networks with no problem. I would write your congressman and ask her why she cant get permission for channels 8, 32, and 20 to increase their broadcast power and radius.

That brings back memories of the pre cable days when changing the channel meant turning the antenna.  NBC meant WSFA out of Montgomery, but ABC and CBS came through better from Columbus.  Sometimes Channel 6 from Birmingham came through clear.  If anyone wanted to watch PBS, Mount Cheaha was the only option.  Those were the days.
