What a euphemism for democracy shifting from an informed citizenry to a low information citizenry.  Most of our own grandchildren cannot identify our system of government.  They are clueless of the tyranny of democracy.  They have neither awareness nor understanding of the lessons to be learned from the Greeks (who are rioting) and the Venezuelans (who are rioting).  They do not understand that a selfish vote endangers the prosperity of their own scion.  They are willing… for utopian misconception… to vote for an imagined government that… in the long run… cannot live up to the dream promised in 30 second sound bites.  Ask them!

A decade ago, Venezuela was a prosperous and beautiful country.  Foreign investment brought wealth.  But, the masses coveted the wealth of the investors.  In a shift to socialism, they voted themselves more of that foreign money.  When it did not arrive in their pockets, their socialist government nationalized the very industry that provided the wealth (the route to communism).   The differences between the Venezuelan government and the foreign investors became irreconcilable.  Foreign resources were redirected elsewhere.  And the socialists had no one else’s money to pay the masses.  And, they could not maintain the industry that made them wealthy.

We are headed down that crazy highway to despair.  The Utopians are willing to import masses of poor, unskilled, illiterate peoples… who will need to be fed, sheltered, and cared for.  It will not be the Utopians’ money that provides these services… it will be someone else’s money.

First we will witness the fall of European nations… witness the very plague with which we are willingly affording an incubator in our own nest.  See how Italy has been overrun… and, now cannot recover without an excruciating exercise in mass deportation.  Italy’s sudden act of social self defense has shifted the point of entry to Spain… and they are also recoiling.  The Greeks, already in a fiscal socialist morass of their own making, find their own outlying islands overrun.

Brexit is a preemptive strike to keep the same from happening to the UK. But, alas they too will follow the other EU countries (who is the mayor of London?).  In some form or another, NAZI think is being rekindled in Europe.  You too would begin to entertain such thoughts if you witnessed your daughter(s) being raped. (Under the tenets of Islam, Muslim men are ENTITLED to women.  I have witnessed that in person!)

In our country, the shift will be slower… but, as a slow growing cancer… it will metastasize (leak out of the Left Coast and the Northeast).  First, the leftist will… through fiat of mass enfranchisement… establish a majority vote.  Then the majority vote will overwhelm the electoral system.  The Republic will be toast.

The first resource out of which we will run… is other people’s money.

The next resource will be Judeo-Christian culture.

Eventually, the Bill of Rights will be forfeited.

Ah… but, don’t worry my liberal friends… you won’t be around for the demise of your descendents.

This is not new. It was said of our generation. We were hippies with Woodstock  and smoking weed. Yet, the country has survived and will continue to survive regardless of what Trump is doing or not doing.

I do agree that hedonism took a great leap forward during the Hippie era.

I was pre-Woodstock.  Our parents were not advocates of “if it feels good – do it.”  Along with the time tested “reading, ‘riting, and ‘rithmatic”, we were required to take civics and World, American, and State history.  We were not socially promoted.  If you did not make the grades, you were held back (as was my brother in sixth grade). We were required to take a foreign language.  My parents chose Latin for me. I learned to love and respect science.

The progression, about which I spoke in my essay (above), really began with FDR and the “New Deal.”  At that juncture, our government began to encourage its constituents to dependent upon it.  Until that time, indigence was un-workable without the benevolence of charities.  The sparkle of Social Security wooed many a citizen into neglecting his (or her) retirement.  I have friends and relatives who are living the nightmare of THAT reality.

The work ethic is not as common as it used to be.  The mathematics of compound interest is not fresh on the minds of as many as it should be.  Even… as nary a week goes by that the death of Social Security is not forecast… people avoid… cannot perceive their dotage.  There are cataracts over the future vision of liberals and the entitlement class.  Grasshoppers.

I quote you, “Yet, the country has survived and will continue to survive regardless of what Trump is doing or not doing.”

So… do you think that the United States has improved in its decades long progress toward becoming a nanny state (socialism)? 

I believe that President Trump… no matter how crude you (or I) might perceive him to be… is acting like the CEO of the United States and is employing the “art of the deal” to mitigate some of the excesses of the past few decades.  America was good to him.  He is returning the favor… FOR FREE. However, unless he can make this revived American Dream (and prosperity) stick to the mind(s) of her citizens… America will sink back into decline.  To make that point:  America forgot the good years of Reaganism.

I personally believe that we must turn back toward our Constitution… that we should restore our freedoms… that we should get the government out of our lives except for defense and the security of freedom.

“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity…”

Success is not a right.  Our government should not drag down a man’s legal endeavor… and, our country should do nothing to prop up a man who is authoring his own failure.

Our title is “We the People of the United States”… not, “we the federal beneficiaries.”

As I read through these emails, I was impressed by the picture being painted.  Obviously this country has always problems but there is always hope and optimism.  Guess we as individuals of this great country have a choice to see the future brightly or dimly.  Never underestimate the wisdom of American citizens.  Otherwise how do we get out of bed each morning?

Until there is a tornado that flattens Stillwater and the the Right will scream "where is the government....where is FEMA"...big government sucks until you need it. NO EPA  to help protect pristine Lake Martin. The Florida Panhandle is majority Conservative yet they scream where is the Government.?

To me, the Federal Government exists to protect the security, the freedoms, and the health and welfare of its citizens.

And no, I don't profess Socialism as the answer.

Well, governor Ivey could direct that the water division enforce current rules on lake Martin.  Corruption at federal and state levels is definitely visible.  But what about our neighbors that run environmental management in this state?  

Btw, what specifically are you referring to on lake Martin.  Was the textile industry at one point.  Who is polluting our lake now?

Yes… the framers of the Constitution provided for hope… multiple mechanisms to protect ourselves from tyranny and governmental oppression.  But, I admonish that the dissolution of The Republic is a slow and insidious project.  We Americans are ambitious and respond to impending danger with rapidity… “minute men.”  The process whereby our enemies would undo us is slow and methodical… measured in decades and centuries.  Our enemy is plotting against our great grand children.  We are defending against a “clear and present danger.”

Huh? 

Please let me know where you got this information.  I know of no outcry from the right in any of the cases you cite.  FEMA is an emergency management agency… not an insurance company.  The EPA does protect Lake Martin (Clean Water Act, Priority Pollutant List, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, etc.)  No one from the right has taken any step(s) to abolish those actions.  (Please don’t blather – I am a Certified Environmental Specialist.)
