I did not always like what he did but never considered him anything less than a shining example of what was good about America.  Hopefully, someday we will recapture that goodness.

When I was serving on the Battle Staff for the National Emergency Airborne Command Post (aka the "Doomsday Plane"), Vice President GHW Bush took a ride one day with us and I had the pleasure of meeting him.  What they say about his being a gentleman is true.  RIP, President Bush, you are now with Barbara for eternity.

Despite growing up wealthy, he managed to be humble about his many achievements and blessings.  He was one of the old style politicians that could battle it out in politics, but then have a cocktail with a member of the oppositiion in the evening.  Remember the fuss when he was running as Vice President and had the debate with Geraldine Ferraro and got in so much trouble because he commented "kicked a little ass last night"?  So tame by today's standards

I always thought it was a shame he didn't get a second term - if the election had been held the year before, he would have won riding the high of the first Gulf war.  But then the economy stumbled and Bill Clinton won with "its the economy, stupid".  Amazing how they went on to become good friends.

Wasn't that the Ross Perot timeframe?  That "sucking sound of jobs leaving usa" that Trump is trying to fix

I have been very impressed by all the wonderful stories that are being brought to the forefront on Presdent Bush's life. From the time he was eighteen, proposed to his wife when she was just sixteen, joined the Navy, fought in World War II, was shot down in combat, married his wife on returning from the Navy, and served in many prominent leadership positions during his career. He was a man with true convictions and put "Country" first throughout his lifetime. I intend to read and watch more on his history in the coming days and will try to "encourage" my five grandkids to learn more about a "great" man.

Prsident Bush was the best prepared person to become President. Great family man and a nice person. The country lost a Great American.

"Lt George Bush, then a 20-year-old pilot, was among nine airmen who escaped from their planes after being shot down during bombing raids on Chichi Jima, a tiny island 700 miles south of Tokyo, in September 1944 - and was the only one to evade capture by the Japanese."
