It is just being reported that today the Turkish Foreign Minister is claimng that Dear Leader is working to extradite Fetullah Gulam to Turkey.  If this is true and it doesn't make even the most rabid Trump fan toss their cookies, then we know for sure America, as a beacon of justice to the world, is gone forever!

I am amazed that there are people in these United States that do not understand how dictators in foreign countries rule.  Saudi punishes crimes like stealing by cutting off a hand or even head for serious crimes and do so in the public square.  Russia, China, etc. handle control of citizens in brutal ways. This is true for centuries.

All of this to say that the death of a Saudi citizen at the hands of the Saudi dictator is expected as it is in Russia, China, and all countries with a dictator.  Sounds like some reality therapy is in order

Fethullah's fate was high on my priority list of concerns, but treating the fire ant mound in my backyard has bumped him out of the number one spot.  I trust Donaldo Magnus will do the right thing.

I totally agree with you.  When you look at our 'justice" system, maybe  theirs is a better way.  But we need to remember that the journalist who was executed, went to the counselette on his own free will, knowing that he had ticked off the King of Saudi Arabia.  It was poor judgement on his part.  Saudi does not have a free press.  Saudi takes enemies of the Kingdom very seriously.  It is not a free society.  He sought amnesty in the U.S.  but continued to publicly criticize the Kingdom.

Donald Trump has made the right decision with regard to his reaction.  We likely sent them a diplomatic note via our Ambassador to strongly protest the action.  But Saudi funds in the billions, spent in the U.S., mean thousands of jobs to Americans.  Future contracts = more jobs for Americans.  I'm sure someone will claim it is crass to to think about benefits to us, versus a man's life.  We've got to stop thinking we must hold other countries to our standards or ideas about justice.  Would we cut off trade with China because they have a different standard of justice?  Singapore?  People need to get real.  People also need to study up on Saudi and see the pressures they are up against, which are never discussed in the media.  It's very complex.

Now one of the liberals or both will get on here and tell me that I am a horribly amoral person and not fit to live.  But we have to deal with reality and stop thinking that we have a right to tell the rest of the world how to live.

People are murdered (executed) every hour by some dictator and this Saudi execution would have never have been heard from had he not been of the “journalist class”.  Interesting how idiots like Jim Acosta think they are above everyone else on earth, just because he gets to show his ass and get away with it.  Maybe he needs to go interview the Saudi Crown Prince.

" But we have to deal with reality and stop thinking that we have a right to tell the rest of the world how to live."

You make agood point. I assume you agree with the way they treat woman, also.

"All women in the kingdom are considered to have a male “wali” – an official guardian, typically a father, brother, uncle or husband.

Although guardianship is not enshrined in written law, government officials, courts, businesses and individual Saudis generally act in accordance with it, meaning that, in practice, women need their guardian’s consent for any major activity, including travel, obtaining a passport, getting married or divorced and signing contracts.

The system makes it “nearly impossible” for victims of domestic violence or sexual abuse to obtain legal redress because the police often insist that women and girls obtain their guardian's authorisation to file a complaint - even when the complaint is against the guardian."

Wow - so we should go to war with or hold every country that does not live up to our "standards"?  and that by saying we should not be the worlds police department means that Hound agrees with the way other countries treat woman ?

If we required every country to live up to our same standard, at what point does someone else tell us how to live and govern the way they prefer?  I kind of like it when we tell the UN/other countries that we are a soverign nation and to go pound sand when they tell us what rights we should and should not have.

You wish to remove the rights of other countries to self rule and to be a sovereign nation, thus denying that country the rights that we demand.

You are insane.

It doesn't matter if I agree with it or not, that is just the way it is - although this King is allowing some changes for women.  I have been to Saudi a couple of times.  Yes, I wore a headscarf and an abya.  I was not permitted to sign in to the meetings I was attending because women are not permitted to be in Military buildings, but the Prince made an exception for me.  He also let me know it was fine that I removed my head scarf and abya during the metting.  I had to provide a letter thatn said I had my husband's permission to check in to the hotel.  I was not permitted to leave my room unless accompanied by one of my male colleagues.  When we when out to eat, we had to sit in the family section hidden by screens.  Some restaurants don't allow women at all.  But, I didn't lose sight that I was in their country, at their invitation and under the rules of Islam.  I was fine with it.

becomes so corrupted by the hypnotic politics of a disgusting charatan that she uses the old ''recognize reality'' canard to justify the United States government turning over an almost certainly innocent resident of this nation to molify the blood lust friends of that same charlatan!  No Hound, this is still (for how long?) a free country, and for an opinion you do not deserve to be punished, but you deserve to be ashamed at how far you and the respect for this nation's long held principals have fallen!

''We do not have the right to tell the rest of the world how to live.''  Neither should we be cowed by anyone else in the world trying to tell us how to live!!

''Take care of ourselves.''  Fetullah Gulam, has for many years been ''one of ourselves''!  Even he wasn't, Fire ants aside, do you think it is OK for the United States of America to turn ANY innocent individual over to a ruthless foreign power that can be expected to put him to death after a pretend trial before a court that takes its instructions from the ''leader''?  If it is OK in your opinion then I assume you will not complain when it is someone you support who gets similar treatment form a future president who has a D after his or her name.

Frankly Arch, I'm much more concerned about the justice system here in the United States than in Turkey.  You should be too.

Son, that you are insane and in need of serious mental help.  Parts of this world have been fighing for as long as people have existed and have ideas different then the US as to who/what has rights and you want to force your opinions on the world and then claim that since Hound disagrees with you that she thinks women should be of lower standing around the world compaired to men.

You attempt to put your thoughts onto other people - its called projection.

So am I!  And I pray our own justice system is not so compromised by Trumpism that they now will endorse the removal of innocent human beings to the death squads of a corrupt foreign dictator!  We are not discussing the justice system of another nation here...we are discussing our own justice system's response to the demands of another country!

https://www.salon.com/2010/04/07/assassinations_2/

Instead, in Barack Obama's America, the way guilt is determined for American citizens -- and a death penalty imposed -- is that the President, like the King he thinks he is, secretly decrees someone's guilt as a Terrorist.  He then dispatches his aides to run to America's newspapers -- cowardly hiding behind the shield of anonymity which they're granted -- to proclaim that the Guilty One shall be killed on sight because the Leader has decreed him to be a Terrorist.  It is simply asserted that Awlaki has converted from a cleric who expresses anti-American views and advocates attacks on American military targets(advocacy which happens to be Constitutionally protected) to Actual Terrorist "involved in plots."  These newspapers then print this Executive Verdict with no questioning, no opposition, no investigation, no refutation as to its truth.  And the punishment is thus decreed:  this American citizen will now be murdered by the CIA because Barack Obama has ordered that it be done.  What kind of person could possibly justify this or think that this is a legitimate government power?

In Al-Aulaqi v. Panetta (Al-Awlaki v. Panetta) the groups charge that the U.S. government's killings of U.S. citizens Anwar Al-Aulaqi, Samir Khan, and 16-year-old Abdulrahman Al-Aulaqi in Yemen last year violated the Constitution's fundamental guarantee against the deprivation of life without due process of law.

The killings were part of a broader program of "targeted killing" by the United States outside the context of armed conflict and based on vague legal standards, a closed executive process, and evidence never presented to the courts.

I have not read the extradition treaty we have with Turkey. Assuming you have, why not get in touch with Donaldo Magnus and give him guidance on how to proceed.  Outrage from this forum will have no effect on Fethullah's fate.  By the way, how did you determine his "almost certain innocence?"

The United States Justice Dept has investigated the Turkish claims and found no evidence that Gulen was in anyway involved with the coup attempt against Erdogan!  I don't know about you, but, unlike Dear Leader, I still trust our own agencies more than those of an authoritarian regime...bottom line he is almost certainly innocent!

Is that bottom line anything like "almost certainly pregnant?"
