which have been confirmed in an around-about-way by the WH, when asked why he wouldn't agree to a bill which would reopen the government with a provision that the wall funding discussions continue, Trump's response was he wouldn't sign it ''because it would make me look foolish''.  Huh, he thinks any reasonable person would be surprised or shocked or, for that matter, even notice?!

Reagan signed the amnesty bill in exchange for "talk" about border security/wall. Thirty years on and we are still just talking. Talk doesn't build anything. God Emporer Trump will build his big beautiful wall.

I totally agree with Lifer. Talk is "cheap". As he said, we have been talking about "border security and a wall" for over thirty years. We now have a President who is following the "will" of the American people and who "acknowledges" that it is his responsibility under the Constitution to provide for our "well being, safety, and security". This "responsibility" seems to be contrary to the beliefs of many Democrats who favor the rights of "illegal immigrants" over the rights of our "own" citizens. A prime example of this occurred a few days ago when an "illegal immigrant" who was protected under the guise of "Sanctuary Cities", murdered a young policeman in Newman, California. This young man came to the United States as an "immigrant" desirious of becoming a police officer, and followed all of the requirements to become a United States citizen. He leaves behind a young wife and five month old son. It seems a little "ironic" that this murderer's "mental state" is now to be examined. And yes, Architect, I understand that under our "judicial" system that is his "right" but at the moment my "feelings" are for his "young family".

We have been "fooled" for over thirty years so why wouldn't President Trump say it would "make him look foolish? Just because you have a different mindset doesn't make everyone else foolish!!!!

what do you mean:

1/ The ''will'' of the 54.1% of the American people who voted against Trump in 2016

2/  The ''will'' of the 54.9% of the American people who voted Democratic in the 2018 mid-terms

3/  The perceived ''will'' of the 30% to 40% of the American people who say they still support Trump today

4/  The obvious ''will'' of the miniscule number of American people who post on this forum

Just wondering

You can just keep wondering if that helps you to satisfy your side of the issue on immigration. You know that the very same Democrats who are so adamant against the "wall" today are the same people who in the past supported the "need for a wall to protect our border with Mexico" until such time that it became their "battle cry" against President Trump and his plans for a wall. I will rephrase a question that I have asked you before, "do you lock your doors at night or do you leave them open with a sign that says WELCOME to my home"? Is there a difference between your "door" and a "wall"? Do you have a fence that divides you property lines from the properry lines of your neighbors? It is against the law for someone to break into your house just the same as it is against the law for an "illegal immigrant" to enter our country.

maybe there was an answer to my actual question there but l sure can't fine it.

BTW:  Even though it was not an answer you do make some good points.  Yes, as recently as 2017 Democrats offered 25 billion for ''border security'' including a wall as long as it also offered extension to DACA and a very circuitous and lengthy path to citizenship...Trump and his GOP lemmings turned it down because the T party nuts objected!  ''Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me''!

Yes I have a lock on my door and it is an old fashioned one with a key, but I am told by my digital non-neanderthal friends that I need to consider some of the now available more effective high tech security devices than a keyed lock.  Seems to me we should take that attitude on border security. Let's consider a 21st century solution rather than a 12th century one.  Let's spend on a solution that really works functionally for America rather than one that works politically for a few rightwing politicians.

Great we can add a "smart lock" on the ground where the "door" should be.

Kind of hard to add a lock to something without some kind of wall / door / fence / something.

You should remove your front door since you do not believe in stopping people from criminal activities.

You refer to a 21st Century solution to the border problem rather than than a 12th Century one. Taking that into consideration, I have not heard of any countries who have border walls or some other type barriers having any problems with "illegals" entering their country. That seems to indicate that "walls, barriers, or other types of physical restraints" seem to work well in restricting unlawful entry to their country. I don't know about others, but during the attack on our borders, I didn't see anyone "crawliing" over the "concertina wire or razor wire" as it is sometimes called. The two border patrol representatives who are best qualified and closest to the border control problem spoke over the last two days on their needs and recommendations to best secure our borders. Based on their experience and daily involvement in providing border security, the need for a barrier, regardless of what it is called, is paramount.

Since Antifatech said we need to use more modern technology maybe we should use the Reaper drones that Obama used to fire missles at people.

To save Trump's political ass, lets spend billions to build the wall even though better and cheaper ways are available...now what about the boats on beaches?
