I see a trash can that is Never moved from the Tecumseh Road County Road. It is very unsightly and a dangerous obstacle at night and before daylight. It needs to be moved back to the home until pickup days. Someone is going to get hurt if it is not moved.

One of my neighbors moves our trash cans out of the way every time which I really appreciate since we are usually not there when they pick up trash.  Can't imagine why anyone would move it back into the roadway.

I have no idea but iit possible they are trying in a subtle way to slow down traffic? I am about fed up with the UPS driver blasting down our short little road nearly everyday. We have children and pets that walk most days, or skate, or ride their bike. I know the old driver forthis route reads the forum so maybe he can put a bug in somebodys ear before I have had enough and phone in a complaint with video evidence. I know they are timed and paid according to production, but blasting through residential areas with children is unacceptable.

Why not just stop him and explain your concern without being confrontational? Sure beats trying to reach him with a post or a video.

It may not be a neighbor at all.  The trash companies just toss the cans when they pick up the trash.  Sometimes they are careful and sometimes they aren't.

With regard to the UPS person - I guess we don't have the same one, because ours seems to be on the lookout for dogs and kids over here.  (I'm off Coosa 20)

While on the subject - does anyone else feel like the mail doesn't get delivered every day?  We had a wonderful old mailman who went above and beyond.  Then he retired, and we had a string of temporary mail people that were hit or miss.  But now we have noticed that somedays we just don't seem to get mail delivery at all.  Things that we are expecting to be delivered get updated staus like "being held at the customers requiest" or "undeliverable".  None of which is true.  I've thought of complaining to the post office, but you know they will just deny it.

Sign up for Informed Delivery on the USPS website if it is available in your area.  It lets you know when mail and packages are arriving.

We do and that is my point.  Sometimes it will give a date, and on that day, nothing shows up and the tracking number will say "held at customer's request", when no such thing happened.

I get an email the day my mail is to be delivered with scanned images of the envelopes.  Info on any packages to be delivered is also included.  When I check my mailbox, they're always there.  However, reading the fine print of the email, USPS says delivery could be up to a week later.  My deliveries have always been the same day.  As with all services, it just depends on who's providing the service.  I'm guessing all post offices and carriers are not the same.

Why not confront your neighbor of your concern?  Do you think a job or shift work could be involved? Are they home to move the can when needed? Maybe when you move the trash can, they move it back down simply because they won't be there to move it back when the trash does pick up. Maybe there could be a solution if you would only talk to your neighbor and not post it on Lake Martin Forum.  Moving the trash can to the middle of their LONG concrete driveway is not the solution. Yes, when the trash picks up the truck does drop the can close to the road. The can is moved away from the road as soon as possible. Maybe looking at the trash can is "unsightly" for you. However, after it is moved away from the road it is not a hazard. If you hit the trash can, you are clearly off the road and in their ditch.
